Talk:Chad Basin National Park
Add topic@Ikan Kekek: Hi, how do I move this page to my sandbox? So that I can continue from where I stopped later today. @Ikan Kekek:Edriiic (talk) 16:05, 26 June 2021 (UTC) @SelfieCity: Please how do I crop the image? I tried but I didn't get the source code. Edriiic (talk) 16:05, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- The first problem with this image is that it is not wide enough. The image on Commons is only 300 pixels wide. Images used in page banners should be at least 2,100 pixels wide.
- If the image did contain enough pixels, we use an app called CropTool to crop the image. You can install CropTool at the CropTool page on Wikimedia Commons. It makes cropping the image easy. When cropping an image the ratio should be 7 to 1. This means that the image's width is seven times that of its height. Then the file name (without the "file:" prefix) can be added to the Wikivoyage article and by default the image transfers from Wikimedia Commons.
- Let me know if you need any more information. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:11, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
@SelfieCity: can I still use this image? Or I should use another image. I wasn't the one that uploaded the image. I found it on wiki commons, will I still be able to crop it?
- @Edriiic: You can crop the image, but its resolution is not high enough to be used in the article. It would be better to incorporate the original image somewhere within the article. If you can find another potential banner image with a higher resolution, I would. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:15, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
- @SelfieCity: I got my friend schooling there to send me an image. Is this okay?
@SHB2000: please can you take a look at the image, I don’t know how to go about the cropping of the page banner. I think that’s what is left to make the article standard.
- Hi @Edriiic: I’m sorry, our timezones are different and I just got up and got a chance to respond to your questions. Since we’re working on this banner, I. can remove the crop notice so that you don’t feel under pressure. However, the image itself is a big improvement in terms of resolution. Go to the Croptool website. Press “connect” and log into your Wikimedia account. Press “allow” if you agree to the terms. From here you follow the directions as presented by Croptoool.
- When you reach the image to be cropped, under “aspect ratio” click “custom” and set it to 7:1. Click preview and (remember, this is really important) click “upload as new file”. Give the banner a title such as “Chad Basin Banner.jpg” and click upload. This uploads your banner to Wikimedia Commons.
- It’s a bit complicated but just follow this checklist and you’ll soon get used to it. Let me know if you have any questions. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 10:15, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
@SelfieCity: Done :). Hope the article is now standard. Thanks for the help.
- Definitely. Glad it helped! --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 19:20, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
