Talk:Enclaves and exclaves
Add topicArticle name
[edit]Right now the word Exclaves is also capitalized in the article name, but it's not a proper noun so I'd suggest to move the article to "Enclaves and exclaves". --Ypsilon (talk) 16:17, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:17, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
- Doesn't require discussion, standard Wikivoyage naming conventions. I'll take care of it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:20, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
West Berlin
[edit]Can the same territory be both an enclave and an exclave simultaneously, ie: West Berlin was a cold-war enclave (as it was completely surrounded by East Germany, so effectively a foreign country) and an exclave (as it was separated from the rest of West Germany by foreign territory)? - I don't know, but we shouldn't cover enclaves and exclaves that no longer exist. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:33, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- Sure. Baarle, which is covered in the article (I learned about the place by reading the article a while ago) is in the Netherlands, but parts of the town are exclaves of Belgium, and if the map in the article is correct, two Belgian parts include Dutch exclaves in turn. --Ypsilon (talk) 18:47, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
- Actually, any place where part of a country is enclaved (surrounded by one foreign nation), that part will also be an exclave (separated from its own parent nation by foreign territory). The only way to create an enclave that isn't also exclaved from its parent nation's "mainland" is to enclave the whole darned country, Lesotho style.
- In any case, it looks like the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union created a few of these. Kaliningrad is listed but y'all missed this: https://www.voanews.com/south-central-asia/two-remote-uzbek-exclaves-two-different-paths —The preceding comment was added by 66.102.87.40 (talk • contribs)
- Who's "y'all"? This is a travel guide anyone can edit. Plunge forward and add whatever you like. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:49, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Tweed Heads enclave
[edit]@Ikan Kekek: I'm not the best person to explain the Tweed Heads enclave, but does this map help visualize? (the south side in New South Wales, and the north is Queensland) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:51, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- Yep, it sure does. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- My problem is that I find this complex, run-onish sentence way too confusing: "But to get to that small NSW section, you'd need to have to go through the Queensland section, but you can come out of the town without having to go to Queensland." Can you simplify the sentence? Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:49, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
- I'll try simplifying it. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:39, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Tanjung Tuan, Malacca State
[edit]Would Tanjung Tuan in Malacca be worth a mention? It's an exclave of Malacca and an enclave as it's completely surrounded by Negeri Sembilan both by land and in the state's waters. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 11:27, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
