Any Wikivoyagers have experience with a good tour program for the Inca Trail? - EricDerKonig

I went with Peru Treks and was quite happy. The food and personal gear they provided was excellent. The guides were terrible, unable or unwilling to lead the group, or do much else. This didn't really bother me; in fact, I was more amused than annoyed (I would have preferred to do the trip without a guide anyways). (WT-en) Ryleyb 13:42, 2 February 2007 (EST)

I also went with Peru Treks in 2005 and was very happy; our chief guide was excellent. —The preceding comment was added by 161.40.232.2 (talkcontribs) 18:19, 19 March 2010

To Guide

[edit]

User:Nbarth has greatly improved this article. Let's talk about what further improvements are needed for this article to be a Guide and eligible for nomination for Featured Travel Topic. The most obvious needed addition is a map. I think it could really use more images, too.

What else? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:37, 24 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've added some more pictures and more details in the "Go" section. I agree that a map would be good. Beyond that, I think the article looks pretty complete. Wikivoyage:Itinerary status only mentions maps for star status, not for guide status, so could it be that this article is already at guide level? (Also pinging User:Hobbitschuster, who has been looking for potential FTTs lately.) —Granger (talk · contribs) 14:45, 29 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
A map would be a good idea and some of the bullet point lists might work better as flowing text... Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:53, 29 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'd love to see this one on the Main Page someday. The article does need a map and geotags, and it looks a bit "uneven" with a lot of subheadings and bullet points, but again, tour operators (which may need to be pruned per Ikan's comment in the thread below) and the gear checklist are best listed with bullet points. Also, we have to check if things are up to date (2012 and 2013 are mentioned in the article). ϒpsilon (talk) 11:44, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I think I've addressed all these issues. Thoughts? —Granger (talk · contribs) 02:02, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Tour operator listings

[edit]

If there are "about 200 companies, [and] many are bad", we risk having all of them list themselves. This seems like an obvious example of such a "self-listing". Presuming that the "dozen well-respected companies" (now 16) are well-curated, should we delete all the ones that were added since that phrase was inserted? Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:47, 5 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've removed all the later additions except for Alpaca (whose quality I can vouch for). —Granger (talk · contribs) 16:50, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
