There's quite a bit of stuff that's hardly specific to Kaohsiung (or even Taiwan) here now -- eg. the tips on learning Chinese ( Chinese phrasebook), the legal requirements for getting a job ( Taiwan and also a pointer in Teaching English), meal etiquette ( Taiwan or even China), etc. Are you OK with me moving this stuff out? I don't want to get into an edit war here... (WT-en) Jpatokal 23:51, 7 May 2006 (EDT)

Oh come one walking in Kaohsiung isn't that bad! "tantamount to suicide"...However the article is right about the fact that pedestrians are "at the will of anything and everything around him or her". Fact is, in contrary to western countries where pedestrians usually have priority, in Taiwan, esp in Kaohsiung, if you are walking, then you are responsible for looking out for yourself. Taxis, scooters, and other cars will NOT stop for you (they might not even brake). (WT-en) orcalee 16:34, Dec 18 2006 (EDT)

Hi Orcalee. I have amended the text taking into account your views as well as my own thoughts on the matter (though it has been some years since I have been to Kaohsiung). I hope the result is acceptable to all. (WT-en) WindHorse 21:58, 18 December 2006 (EST)

Districts

[edit]

Many districts have been created, and all of them are empty, except for Kaohsiung/Cijin. I don't think Kaohsiung is yet ready to be districtified, so what do we do with the content in Cijin? --(WT-en) globe-trotter 14:39, 16 November 2010 (EST)

I have merged all the districts back into Kaohsiung. --(WT-en) globe-trotter 22:26, 24 November 2010 (EST)

Hotel pic

[edit]

That hotel pic seems boring. Keeping in mind the Wikivoyage:Image policy on photos of businesses, is there a good reason it shouldn't be removed from the article? Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:30, 11 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I didn't remember I posted this, and just removed it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:05, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Distributing photos more evenly

[edit]

I just removed the lead photo for being of poor quality and a photo of a hotel for being an uninteresting business photo. Right now, there are a number of photos bunched up, while there are no photos in the last couple of sections of the article. Fairly evenly distributing images is desirable and fits with Wikivoyage:Image policy#Minimal use of images. If anyone would like to do that, you'd be doing a service to readers. Suspect typo

[edit]

from Wikivoyage:Correct typos in one click hoardes->hoarders? (omit) context: ~~~ this place on the weekends when hoardes
hoardes of young Kaohsiung couples head ~~~

@SHB2000: In the context of a travel guide, "hoardes" is much more likely to be a misspelling of "hordes" than "hoarders".--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:53, 13 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Restaurants are hard to locate

[edit]

I'm not a local and I don't speak Chinese. Right now when I look at the restaurant listings, there are four places, all of which lack the Chinese name and lat/long information. If I search for the restaurants by English name, or by street address on Google Maps, nothing comes up. Perhaps they're old and closed? Unsure. If anyone has the knowledge or skill set to help out, it would be ideal. -Douglaspperkins (talk) 12:11, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
