Merged from User talk:Ypsilon/Milan/Central Milan[edit]

Actually, I'd call that Centro Storico - even though the actual old district of Centro Storico encompassed everything up to the "red ringroad". But I believe in common parlance it is not improper to refer to the part within Corso Navigli as the actual Centro Storico, especially that it is actually more of a common than proper name (it just means "historic centre"). PS. BTW, this area is now officially the "Quartiere 101 - Duomo" of "Zona 1": [1]. This quartiere also includes the Castello Sforzesco, and I would include it in the centre as well.

Centro Storico would sound a less dull than Central Milan, so let's change the name of the article to Centro Storico once it's moved to the main namespace.
West's article has relatively few POIs, and I see you moved the store to the North article too (which of course is the correct place for the store), so I'd suggest keeping the castle in West, even if it's officially in the CS. ϒpsilon (talk) 06:41, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what is your impression of Milan, but let me offer mine:
  1. Castello seems an integral part of the Centro when you walk up to it over Via Dante
  2. The Sempione park due to its layout plus the tracks leading to Cadorna serve as a buffer between Centro Storico and West of Milan, there is a distinctive border between those two north of Castello Sforzesco
  3. Let's face it - the West of Milan isn't really the most interesting part of the city, so I would not shuffle POIs around just to balance out the sheer number between districts.
If we find that the West, and perhaps the South as well, prove rather empty for separate articles, then why not merge them together, perhaps with the outer belt as well? PrinceGloria (talk) 09:32, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
From that perspective, Sforzesco would indeed belong to the Centro Storico (there was a cozy restaurant in the corner of Dante and San Tomaso in 2009, but now I can't find it so it's probably closed).
Hmm... I would still keep South and West as separate articles and look if we could expand them, for instance with something from the Italian article. If that would turn out too difficult, then we could possibly merge them. ϒpsilon (talk) 10:36, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We have a new banner from Wiki Loves Monuments. It could replace the existing one that lacks in sharpness and composition. What do you think? --Alexander (talk) 21:46, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer the original banner. But I'm about to check again. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 04:34, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No, actually, I prefer #2. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 04:35, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Duomo is beautiful, but as compositions, I would have to agree that #2 is better, so count this as another supporting vote for it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:14, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, #1 is really more ideal, just that nothing seems quite related to anything else in it. I'm a reluctant supporter of #2, not a strong one. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:30, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Banner changed. Thank you. --Alexander (talk) 20:07, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
