missing word

[edit]

Is "bouncer" really the correct word for the guy standing at the door of a disco? --(WT-en) Flip666 07:04, 9 April 2006 (EDT)

It is. They select who can enter the club, who cannot come in, "escort" people out of the clubs. (WT-en) Sapphire 18:25, 9 April 2006 (EDT)

Odeonsplatz.

[edit]

Should Odeonsplatz really be considered part of the City Center or should it be Munich/Schwabing? I'm not going to change this without getting input, because this square is in a questionable place - it's borderline. (WT-en) Sapphire 22:58, 14 April 2006 (EDT)

Officially it belongs to Schwabing. But I think we should leave it here for practical reasons. It is only a short walk from Marienplatz through the pedestrian area. So if you visit the city center you would probably want to visit Odeonsplatz, too. In contrast you would take some kind of public transportation to visit the sights in Schwabing.
It is worse that the Pinakotheken are in this article, they definietly belong to Schwabing. --(WT-en) Flip666 08:32, 15 April 2006 (EDT)

Madam Cabaret

[edit]

Per the Project:sex tourism policy, I reverted my revert of the Madam Cabaret removal. MC is apparently a strip club. --(WT-en) Evan 11:00, 3 November 2006 (EST)

Örx, sorry, didn't see the discussion. So is it ok to remove this one? My personal problem is not that it is a strip club, but that it is obviously written by someone connected to this club. Why? He logs on without identification and his one and only edit is always to add this club. I removed it many times and he (or she) didn't try to complain in any way... (and by the way there are many famous bordellos and strip clubs in Munich, but "Madam Cabaret" does certainly not belong to this group) --(WT-en) Flip666 15:14, 18 December 2006 (EST)

Images not appearing.

[edit]

Hi, the images appear broken in this article. Does anyone know how to fix these images? Thanks, --(WT-en) MarinaK 13:41, 4 December 2008 (EST)MarinaK.

Should be fixed now - first thing you should try is hit the edit button and change &action=edit to &action=purge in the address bar of your browser. --(WT-en) Stefan (sertmann) Talk 13:45, 4 December 2008 (EST)

Article name

[edit]

Actually, why don't we call this district Altstadt? PrinceGloria (talk) 10:27, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'd be in favour of that if someone wasn't bound to turn up and want it changed to "Old town" quickly followed by another proposing "Downtown". I really think that some monolingual speakers of English should be exposed to the local names when those names are in Roman script. --61.29.8.33 10:41, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yup, I would have called it Altstadt. Actually some Munich people might not be sure where 'city center' actually is.
I can't think of a precedent of "mono lingual English speakers" demanding to translate established article names into English. (China would be a mess if they did, for example) Andrewssi2 (talk) 13:16, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'd say, go ahead and change the name, and if someone wants to change it to something English, don't agree. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:07, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Great, Munich/Altstadt for whomever wants to pull the trigger? Andrewssi2 (talk) 00:55, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Done. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:23, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Does Oktoberfest belong in Altstadt?

[edit]

I once had the pleasure of living next door to the Oktoberfest grounds on the Theresienwiese, and I'm pretty sure that area doesn't qualify as either 'city center' or 'Altstadt'. Should we merge to the Munich/Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt article instead?

We could leave some mention since related Oktoberfest festivities are apparent around Marienplatz as well. Andrewssi2 (talk) 01:35, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oktoberfest in Theresienwiese belongs in our article for Munich/Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt, since it covers Schwantalerhoehe as well to some extent, and it is indeed cover there. Any mention of Oktoberfest in the Altstadt article should only cover the festivities in the Altstadt, with perhaps a link to the Munich/Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt to make clear to readers who may have been looking for that and not realized it is in another article. We also need to make sure that the district allocation of the "main" Oktoberfest activities is clearly highlighted in the main article for Munich.
Do pardon me for not plunging in, but Oktoberfest is the one aspect of Munich I avoid and know very little about, so any edits by me would have been quite uninformed. PrinceGloria (talk) 05:43, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Done. Actually the listing entries in both articles were close copies of each other anyhow. Andrewssi2 (talk) 05:33, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Return map to standard sizeAndrewssi2 (talk) 06:35, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

[edit]

As per the discussion at Wikivoyage_talk:How_to_use_dynamic_maps#Guidelines_for_Positioning_and_Sizing_Dynamic_Maps, the current dynamic map at 600 x 800 pixels is not correctly zied or positioned. It needs to return to default settings unless there is a compellng geographical reason why this needed. Any objections? Andrewssi2 (talk) 06:35, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Try to fit all the POIs in a smaller size without decreasing the zoom level and you'll have your answer. PrinceGloria (talk) 07:18, 14 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
