We just got back from the guided tour of the Imperial Palace, and really, really, really don't recommend it - you walk along a few concrete roads, see few concrete buildings, and have an English audio guide chattering away in your ear while the Japanese tourists (of which there are well over 100) get talked to by a man with a huge megaphone. There's nothing to see of interest, and it takes a good 90 minutes once you factor in the introductory video. Really, if you have grand ideas of the Tokyo imperial palace being in any way imperial or indeed a palace, you'll be disappointed.
