Move tag to the bottom of the article[edit]

For the same reasons discussed at Template_talk:Style#Move_to_the_bottom_of_the_article, I propose to change the instructions for this template to advise editors to place this tag at the bottom of the article, rather than at the top of the article or at the top of a section:

  • This is an internal Wikivoyage matter. Housekeeping tags are not of interest to casual readers. Putting the traveller first means not putting these as the guest thing they read in an article.
  • It is only regular contributors who will act to move listings from region to city articles. It is naive to think that new readers are going to be motivated to start editing Wikivoyage because they see a movetocity tag at the top of an article.
  • These tags don't actually lead to much work being done. Most of them have been sitting around for years.

The outcome of the Style tag discussion was to implement this proposal. Ground Zero (talk) 13:03, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

130% agree in moving them to the bottom (or move it to the talk page). SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 05:17, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

to add, I can't decide whether it should go onto the article or the talk page. Talk page is ideal, but then PetScan can't identify those tags. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:49, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You could have an <onlyinclude>, but I think it is cleaner to have the template at the end of the article and, if needed, add a section on the talk page discussing the issue. If you have nothing special to say, then the maintenance category is enough. Those who look at the article see that there are listings, they don't need to look at a template on the talk page to see the problem. –LPfi (talk) 16:25, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have implemented this change. Ground Zero (talk) 18:54, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
