Hello, 149.244.249.9! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations. Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:49, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hobbitschuster, thank you for your invitation. I am a regular contributor to other Wikimedia projects, where I do have an account. However I cherish my privacy, therefore I decided to contribute about the places I have visited as an IP in order not to be identified with my user name. Anyway I think I'm going to stop contributing here.--149.244.249.9 14:20, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well that's unfortunate, may I ask why? Hobbitschuster (talk) 16:13, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Hobbitschuster, it's arrogant behaviour of incumbents versus contributors they perceive as newbees. Rules and guidelines need enforcement, that is clear. What I perceive as being repugnant is the way it is done.--149.244.249.9 09:51, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Hobbitschuster. I couldn't remember what this could be about and had to check. You might want to look at User talk:Ibaman#Kashan for some background.
All the best to both of you, and User:149.244.249.9: I hope you reconsider, but I respect your decision either way.

It's unfortunate that you draw this conclusion, but I don't think there was any malign intent on the part of the users in question as I have interacted with them quite frequently and could never detect any such thing. Unfortunately, this wiki does have a problem with touts and some aspects of the tour policy are a bit tricky. Maybe we could have been a bit more patient about it, but what has happened has happened. If you intend to make any further contributions, that is of course always welcome. If not, that is okay too. Hobbitschuster (talk) 21:54, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
