Great job on the Hinduism article! One question: I notice you deleted mention of Jesus as an avatar of Vishnu. Some people do have this belief (here are some relevant search results). Do you consider it outside the mainstream of Hindu belief and thought?

- Sorry, this was actually me. I just forgot to log in when I edited yet. But yes, I removed it because as far as I know, Jesus being an avatar of Vishnu is not really in the mainstream. If you look up about dashavatar, which is essentially the 10 avatars of Vishnu, Jesus does not feature in the list, but the Buddha is the ninth of the ten avatars. And you can see it kind of replicates the theory of evolution. The first avatar is Matsya, a fish, followed by Kurma, the turtle and Varaha, the boar. Then you have Narasimha, the man-lion which is kind of the transition between the animal and human avatars, and all subsequent avatars are human. And the last one, Kalki, is supposed to come on judgement day to cleanse the world of evil.

- OK, thanks for the explanation. Do you think it would be OK to say that some Hindus also consider Jesus an avatar of Vishnu, though that's a minority view, or would that be too misleading and better left out, as is the case at present? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:50, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
- I'm fine about that, as long it is clear that it is only a minority, and not really part of mainstream Hinduism. I'll start a topic in the talk page and see what people say, so let's take it from there. The dog2 (talk) 17:53, 19 November 2015 (UTC)
