First thanks for the enhancing of articles you are doing. One note of advice, banner images should be of ration 7:1, please keep adding them as they make a page look much better but cut them to the accepted proportions. Also interested why changed the name of Rügen to Rugia, have only seen this in Polish and Latin text, not familiar with its use in English. --Traveler100 (talk) 10:49, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I have changed the Stralsund banner for the reason Traveler100 mentioned above. Please, check the rules for page banners. Other thing is that we don't repeat custom banners in several articles, like Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Usedom. Also when you are changing a custom banner created by somebody else, it is a good practice to discuss your reasons in article discussion in order to hear opinions from other editors. This might be an example of such discussion.
Looking forward to more contributions from you! --Danapit (talk) 11:28, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thank you for your advice! I'm getting more used to the way WikiVoyage is handled now, and I begin to really like it. :) All the best, Horst-schlaemma (talk) 17:09, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
One question, how do you make cropped images like this one so fast, apparently even within the voyage engine? Thanks, Horst-schlaemma (talk) 17:15, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here are instructions for how to make suitable banners with GIMP. ϒpsilon (talk) 17:36, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Horst, I don't know about any engine. Personally, I download the picture from commons to my PC and crop it in ACDSee (which is not a free software, but I mostly use it for editing photos). In the past I used to upload the new version to Commons using DerivativeFX, which is history now, so I use a manual upload with UploadWizard instead using {{Derived from}} template and copy the required information (author, location, license, ...). It is always good to make sure you use suitable file nomenclature (as described here) and add "Wikivoyage banners of xxx (country / state)" category. When adding a banner to an article, you can add it also to other language versions. This can be automated if you add the banner file name to wikidata. The procedure is described in the expedition article. Transfer of banners to wikidata is done also by a bot from time to time. Personally, I like defining the banner file name also locally, like that it can be customized better and we have a better overview when the banner changes. Have fun editing! I've cropped quite a few using this site, which requires no actual software download or anything. Texugo (talk) 15:16, 31 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good to see you around![edit]

I don't think we did bid you a proper welcome and thank you for becoming a regular contributor! It is great to see more and more editors with local knowledge contributing content to our articles. PrinceGloria (talk) 07:01, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Prince, Sir, well - thank you! :) How did you even notice me or my contribs? Cheers, Horst-schlaemma (talk) 14:01, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
