Welcome, but I believe you are User:Josh Rayver, and if so, I don't understand why you feel the need to periodically change your username. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:28, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Bikol Phrasebook

[edit]

Thank you for your recent edits to the Bikol phrasebook. I notice that these have removed many accents. I am not sure whether this is appropriate, as the section on Accents says "However, diacritics are normally used in dictionaries and in textbooks aimed at teaching the language to foreigners." This suggests that maybe accents should be used in a phrasebook, but maybe these particular accents aren't in the dictionary. I would be interest to hear your view. I'm a native speaker of Bikol, yes only in dictionaries diacritics are included but not in daily basis. I am the one who originally started the article Bikol phrasebook. Even in Tagalog language diacritics are not even used in everyday writings. Jay Bolero (talk) 02:25, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Diacritics are like niqqud to Hebrew. Niqqud are used only in teaching the Hebrew language to non-natives. Jay Bolero (talk) 02:27, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
The proper pronunciation of the words and the entire phrases and sentences are made clear on the pseudo-pronunciations Jay Bolero (talk) 02:28, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
