Welcome

[edit]

Hello Prithee P! Thank you for your contributions to articles about Nigeria. Welcome to Wikivoyage. I hope that you'll keep sharing information with fellow travellers through this project.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines, style, and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you need help, post a question in the Arrivals lounge. Ground Zero (talk) 14:59, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Expedition

[edit]

A new "expedition" has been created to support the fantastic work of the Nigerian team. Please see Wikivoyage:Nigeria Expedition. Ground Zero (talk) 02:38, 20 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Default address info

[edit]

Hi, and thank you very much for adding so much content to articles about Nigeria!

That said, please read edit summaries in articles you're working on, so that more experienced editors don't need to edit the same things many times. (If you're having trouble seeing edit summaries, click the "View history" tab on the upper right of the page in question.) In this case, I'd like you to please read Wikivoyage:Listings#Template parameters and take note of this, on the "address" tab:

the street address for the business or attraction. Do not include the city (if the same as the page title), the state/province or postal code

Also, don't include the country name.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and carry on!

@Ikan Kekek: Thank you for the appreciation. I will keep your advice in mind and let you know if I have any questions. I will check out the links you added. —The preceding comment was added by Prithee P (talkcontribs)

Great, thank you! (Also, a small thing: Please sign each edit you make on a talk page, by typing 4 tildes [~] in a row at the end.) Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:56, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Don't tout guidelines

[edit]

I'm looking at this edit. Specifically, this is an example of touting:

Sunview Hotel is a 4-star Hotel Which Offers Affordability, Comfort and Serenity. Sunview Hotel has an outdoor swimming pool for relaxation and recreation, a well-equipped gym, an onsite restaurant, a well-stocked bar, a playground fitted with swings and bouncing castles for children. Sunview Hotel has a conference and outdoor event centre to host meetings and events respectively. an onsite supermarket, beauty salon, live entertainment at the lobby lounge and pool terrace, 24/7 security, free parking and ATM/cash machine. A room ranges as low as #10,000 and as high as #150,000.

It contains information, but the big problem is the first sentence. Did you copy it from the hotel's website? Copying verbatim is a no-no. But in any case, the listing cannot be promotional - read Wikivoyage:Don't tout. Thanks.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:33, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: I see the problem. I did copy it only because I was told I could do so. I will edit it now you said it is wrong and write it in my own words. Thank you for the correction.Prithee P (talk) 06:36, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also, please symbols rather than # per the currency on the relevant country's talk page. (where in this case it's an ₦) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 05:37, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Who told you it was OK to copy promotional information from a hotel's website verbatim? If they did, they are wrong, per the links I gave you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:53, 23 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

An award for you!

Don't delete empty fields

[edit]

Hi, User:Prithee P, and thanks for your continuing work! Do us a favour, though: When you make edits like these, please do not delete any standard fields that you leave blank in listing templates. All the blank fields should be restored. Thanks a lot.

All the best,
