Hello, Romanpeter! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

Thank for your contributions. sats (talk) 09:33, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Why are you disregarding the merge tag at the top of the Château de Villandry article? I happen to have visited that chateau, and it is beautiful, but chateaux don't get their own article in Wikivoyage - see Wikivoyage: What is an article. If you think that Villandry should be an exception to the policy I just linked to, you would do best to make an argument at Talk:Château de Villandry, rather than continuing to put up content that is very likely to be deleted, anyway, thus wasting your time. I hope you receive this comment in the spirit it's offered in, as an attempt to be helpful, not to annoy. I appreciate your diligence and love for this chateau. The comment above is correct. Policy here is not to do articles for attractions, only for destinations. Exceptions are made for huge places like Disneyland or Angkor Wat, but the Chateau does not appear to qualify. The normal result here is that someone will move parts of the Chateau article into the article on the Loire Valley or a nearby town (a destination), then delete all other content, and make the Chateau article a redirect.
As Ikan Kekan says, you could "make an argument at Talk:Château de Villandry" to avoid that result.
Another alternative might be to start an itinerary article about a tour of Chateaux in the area and move the material on this chateau there. I think that is the best solution. Pashley (talk)
That's a good point. An itinerary on Chateax of the Loire could be an excellent, really useful article, but it would have to be broader than one on just a single chateau, and would probably need to contain less detail about the history of each chateau. After all, there is Wikipedia and other websites for that level of detail, which is more encyclopedic than travel guide-style. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:35, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not copy text from other websites into Wikivoyage. Upon looking at the page about the Château, I had to remove basically everything because it was copypasta verbatim from the château's own website. K7L (talk) 23:31, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That article is likely to be deleted; discussion at Wikivoyage:Votes_for_deletion#Ch.C3.A2teau_de_Villandry. However, it is still true that "An itinerary on Chateax of the Loire could be an excellent, really useful article". I would like to encourage you to read some of the policy & tips documents linked above, & then try again. You could probably make valuable contributions.
