Hello, Tangalooma! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Don't tout[edit]

Hello, Tangalooma! Thank you for contributing to Wikivoyage, but please note that one or more of your recent edits has been reverted as it appeared to be an attempt to use this site to advertise or promote a business or service. Wikivoyage is created by travellers for travellers, and while business owners and employees are welcome to contribute, use of this site for promotional purposes is not allowed.

If you feel that your edits were incorrectly identified as promotional, please read Wikivoyage's guidelines on identifying promotional edits. If, after reading that guideline, you still feel your edits were incorrectly removed, please use this talk page or the talk page of the article where your edit was removed to explain why your change was not promotional. Note that it is very important that you discuss your proposed change before re-adding it since repeated promotional edits can lead to a temporary block of your account's ability to edit Wikivoyage, and in serious cases the business in question may be blacklisted from Wikivoyage.

You may link to your site in the listing for the resort only. Please make a note of this. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:31, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How is this different from any other Brisbane Attraction. Tangalooma and Moreton Island is located entirely within the Brisbane City Council LGA and it is accessible only via Brisbane based. The language used was not touting in my view - it was factual, relevant and the attraction is one of Brisbane's most famous? I am new to wikivoyage so not sure exactly why other attractions are allowed but not Brisbane's most famous nature & wildlife attraction Tangalooma (talk) 07:10, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's not in Brisbane city, and don't tout states that listings can be in only one place. You posted your URL numerous times. You really don't understand if you think that your attraction cannot be listed. In fact, it's still listed in the Moreton Island article, as you would know if you looked at it again! Please reread Wikivoyage:Don't tout carefully. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:23, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Posted to User talk:Tangalooma and User talk:123.243.181.218:

You have been blocked accordingly, for an initial period of 3 days. I suggest you use that time to read the links you've been given, especially don't tout, and also read the tour listing guidelines. If you use another username or IP address to evade this block during this period, you will be blocked permanently, and your URL will be blacklisted, but no-one wants that. On the other hand, if you decide to cooperate with this site's guidelines instead of posting your link umpteen times, wouldn't that be more beneficial to you? Tangalooma is indeed in Brisbane City. It is entirely under the jurisdiction of Brisbane City Council, and the access is only possible from ferry terminals that are also in Brisbane City Council LGA. This LGA status is clearly indicated on this Australian Electoral commission map: https://ecqgov.sharepoint.com/sites/publicaccess/Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?ga=1&id=%2Fsites%2Fpublicaccess%2FDocuments%2FLocal%20Government%20Maps%2FBrisbane%20City%20Deagon%2Epdf&parent=%2Fsites%2Fpublicaccess%2FDocuments%2FLocal%20Government%20Maps - Wikipedia also clearly states that the City of Brisbane is the LGA for Moreton Island https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moreton_Island
I would suggest the confusion comes because there should be no Moreton Island page separate from Brisbane. The preamble on the 'Greater Brisbane' Page about Moreton island and the reasoning as to why it is a separate listing is fundamentally flawed and primarily incorrect. If I was unblocked I would make the update to the factually incorrect content. Moreton Island is not considered a separate region by anyone, and all the access points are by ferry from Port of Brisbane, & Pinkenba (Suburb of Brisbane). There is no scheduled ferry from Stradbroke Island/Redlands to Moreton island - this is where a lot of the confusion is coming from
From a tourist point of view Moreton Island is a peri-urban area of Brisbane. Under the Tourism & Events Queensland Regional Tourism Operator Network - Moreton Island is represented by Brisbane Economic Development Agency - which is the Government body directly funded by Brisbane City Council to represent Moreton Island's tourism interests.
The solution is to merge the information on the Moreton island page into the Brisbane Page. When I am unblocked I will aim to make the appropriate changes so that readers can get the correct information.
I apologise if I made some rookie errors in correcting and enhancing content - but I am a local who knows the area intimately so if you want the content to be accurate - I'm happy to help Tangalooma (talk) 22:42, 24 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You should argue your point at Talk:Greater Brisbane. Acting unilaterally on districting is also considered disruptive on Wikivoyage. Such major changes have to be done by consensus, keeping in mind that the existing divisions, however misguided they might or might not be, were done by consensus. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:59, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for chiming in, but when I reorganized the region structure for SEQ last month, I made it so that Moreton Island was separate from Brisbane for a few reasons.
  1. Moreton Island is only accessible by ferry, and per ttcf, Moreton Island is really a separate destination
  2. Brisbane does not yet have districts, so right now, categorizing it under Brisbane would equal incomplete districting. If we do ever decide to create districts for Brisbane, then recategorizing Moreton Island under Brisbane can be considered.
  3. Most travellers visit Moreton Island on a separate trip, not as part of a Brisbane trip.
So while our SEQ regions mostly match with municipal boundaries, Moreton Island is an exception here. But at the same time, take a look at why North Stradbroke Island is not categorized under Redland City, even though it is a part of the Redland LGA – because the same three reasons above also apply to NSI. As for the touting – no comment about that. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:38, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
