All the best,
Listing templates
[edit]Hi, Veracious! All your work is appreciated, but could you please use proper Wikivoyage:Listings templates, such as you can produce by clicking the icons to the right of "Listings" above your edit screen (starting from the Greek temple icon: See, Do, Buy, Eat, Drink, Sleep, Go, generic)? "prices" is not a tab, and empty fields in templates should not be deleted.
Terima kasih,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:49, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, my wiki memory muscle is a bit outdated, i'm "converting" to listing by source editor. Hence, i'm not "deleting" empty fields, for example,
* '''Hotel A''' A nice hotel. simply manually converted into {{sleep|name=Hotel A|content=A nice hotel.}} The other parameter could be generated automatically into the full version the next time i link it to Wikidata into:- {{sleep
- | name = Hotel A | alt = | url = | email =
- | address = | lat = | long = | directions =
- | phone = | tollfree = | fax =
- | checkin = | checkout = | price =
- | content = A nice hotel.
- | wikidata = Q1234567
- }}
- Oh yeah, i forgot the parameter didn't use "s". Thanks for the reminder. Veracious (talk) 07:05, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- For example what is the automatic i'm talking about, here's the real example special:diff/4429691. Veracious (talk) 07:08, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. This is a problematic situation, but the solution is not to use source editor to insert listings, but instead to insert them manually the way I described. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:08, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, i know, i only use the source editor to convert raw text into listing. Because it's easier to convert by copy-pasting the template skeleton (in a single edit) rather than adding-delete using the "insert listings" feature (multiple editing). Regards. 🙏 Veracious (talk) 08:18, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for all you do! One quick note: 7+2 only really applies to non-bottom-level regions. Since East Java isn't divided into separate regions on this site, every city or other destination in the province that has a Wikivoyage article needs to be included in "Cities" or "Other destinations", though there's no need to include red links.
All the best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:10, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, how to say it... The page-link that i "removed" is explaining the whole regency instead of the city/town. So.. it's "closer" to 7+2 - a bit tidier.
- (I don't want to create each separate regions because i don't really know about that area, lol)
- Thank you for the reminder. Regards. Veracious (talk) 06:34, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- The thing is, if it's an article about a place in East Java, it has to be linked somewhere in the article, or else it needs to be broken up into pieces in articles about towns or merged and redirected to the East Java article. Having an article that's not linked breaks the Wikivoyage:Breadcrumb navigation. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:41, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, i see... I will re-add those regencies then. Should i put them on "Cities" section, or "Other destinations"? Veracious (talk) 09:13, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know. That's a tricky question, since they're not cities, but "Other destinations" are usually mountains, islands, ski areas (where that's relevant), parks, maybe large rural areas. Maybe make them other destinations for now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:26, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, since both Trawas and Pacet district are listed in "Other destinations", then i will put those regencies in there. Thanks. Veracious (talk) 09:47, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

"Go next" in country articles
[edit]Hi Veracious. Thanks for your good-faith edits, but I suggest you stop deleting "Go next" sections of country articles without discussion and read Wikivoyage talk:Country article template#Go next and the following "Consensus?" subsection first. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:00, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Whoa, that's a bit hidden. I suggest add a link to the discussion at Wikivoyage:Country article template or add a comment about in Wikivoyage:Quick country article template to prevent newcomers from confusion. Thank you. Veracious (talk) 03:03, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- I believe we don't link to discussion pages from template pages as a matter of policy or at least practice. The section is in Wikivoyage:Country article template but not in the quick version, because it's optional. If you think it would be better to include it in the quick version, just state that in Wikivoyage talk:Quick country article template, and we can discuss the idea. Tanjung Pandan
[edit]Thanks for splitting off Tanjung Pandan! Please do move all the remaining listings from Belitung though, currently we have POIs scattered across both articles. Jpatokal (talk) 05:23, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Jpatokal I wonder where should i put the rest of the listing that is not part of Tanjung Pandan nor Manggar town... Should i create a regency page? Or just leave it at Belitung page? Veracious (talk) 02:49, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
- Probably best to leave in Belitung page for now, and add explicit pointers to TP and Manggar. Jpatokal (talk) 03:44, 11 September 2023 (UTC)
