Red images[edit]

Swept in from the pub

A number of article still have broken images (name of the image appears in red). Is there a list of those?

Many months have passed since the migration and many images have been correctly relinked manually. The remaining is probably mostly in low-traffic articles. Maybe it is time to remove them all by bot or manually? Nicolas1981 (talk) 05:21, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Nicolas, do you mean these? They should be 1150 by now. Looking at other Nick's nice plot, heir number is slowly yet steadily dropping. Danapit (talk) 06:02, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
I believe you meant to give this link: Category:Pages with broken file links. Texugo (talk) 11:26, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh yes, exactly. Thanks. Danapit (talk) 11:41, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
I have slowly being going through the list of red links. Sometimes finding alternatives on Commons other times simply deleting the reference. A very slow task, would be good if others could help. If each of other did one a day the list would be go down at a good pace.
Category:Pages with broken file links now down to a two page list, just over 300 articles with red link images. Please take another look at the list and identify pages your are interested in or have contributed to. If all the regular authors here fixed a couple a week we could get rid of this embarrassment by the end of the year. --Traveler100 (talk) 10:44, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Master list of articles w/o photos[edit]

Swept in from the pub

I don't believe there is such a master list. Is there an easy way to generate one? I think there are a number of folks here (including me) who would like to do more work inserting good thumbnails into articles lacking them, and a master list would be a convenient way to know which articles to look at. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:42, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

You could use Free Image Search Tool enter a category (would recommend a small region to start with as the tool hangs if too many articles). Without any of the source fields ticked you just get a list of pages without images. If you tick Wikimedia Commons it will also display suggestions. --Traveler100 (talk) 10:54, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion and the link. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:58, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Proposal for a Maintenance panel[edit]

Swept in from the pub

OK, so I've been spending some of my time trying to make a super one-stop maintenance panel that organizes every possible maintenance-related tool, statistic, link, and graphic into one page in a hopefully user-friendly arrangement with mouseover explanations for everything. So far it includes:

  • Links to maintenance-related WV pages
  • Links to external pages and tools
  • Links to maintenance-related Special pages
  • Links and numbers for maintenance categories, with annotated links to the respective templates
  • Statistics and bar graphs for standard templates with links to pre-filled catscan searches to find what's missing
  • A revamped version of the type vs. status matrix, with annotated links to the respective templates and bar graphs
  • Summary of non-zero statistics from Special:Statistics
  • Special links for administrators
  • User-related links

I can't really think of anything else that's missing. Is there anything to add? My hope is to move this into the WV namespace, redirect WV:Article status stats and WV:Cleanup status stats there, and hopefully put a link to it in the sidebar under tools. I´ve been using something like this daily on pt: for months and find it very useful for spotting problems/things to do. I hope others find it useful as well. What I've got so far is here. Please play around with it some and give me your comments/suggestions. Thanks! Texugo (talk) 18:53, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the effort Texugo! I am testing it and like it a lot. --Danapit (talk) 09:07, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Very handy indeed! I'm probably a bad judge, but I can't think of anything to add either :-) Thanks, Texugo. JuliasTravels (talk) 12:19, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Is there any reason why we can't just move it to the wv namespace. People can make the improvements they can think of? --Inas (talk) 02:44, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Done. Texugo (talk) 13:26, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Is there something else to discuss? Saqib reverted my addition to the sidebar, apparently not having noticed this discussion thread. Does anyone object to re-adding it? (in the meantime, the page is at Wikivoyage:Maintenance panel) Texugo (talk) 14:45, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for all the effort and time you've put into it, and sorry for reverting your addition to the rather controversial sidebar. Actually I've noticed this discussion so apologies. --Saqib (talk) 14:55, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
OK. It has been re-added now. If there are any suggestions for improvements, please let me know! Texugo (talk) 15:00, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
Great idea. Looks nicely done too. Kudos. No doubt we will find things to improve as time goes by, but an excellent start. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 07:25, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello Texugo, this is extraordinary. Thank you, you gave me new hope for the day :) Is there a writeup somewhere about how to run this script on another wiki - say, es.wikivoyage or wikispecies? Sj (talk) 08:27, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi Sj! Thanks for the compliment! Unfortunately, since each wiki has different maintenance categories and different standard templates, a lot of the panel would have to be rebuilt for each wiki. It is mostly made out of simple tables with heavy use of the {{PAGESINCATEGORY:}} and {{#expr:}} magic words (see w:Help:Magic words), bar graph templates like this one, and tooltips using <abbr>. You might also be interested to see the code for a simpler mock-up (without tooltips) I made for pt.wikivoyage at pt:Utilizador:Texugo/Painel_de_manutenção. Please let me know if I can be of assistance. Texugo (talk) 10:23, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Wikivoyage:Maintenance panel % to be fixed[edit]

Swept in from the pub

Hard to believe that a percentage can be higher than 100% :-) (see standard template column) --Andyrom75 (talk) 09:49, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Yes I have been trying to track these rough pages down. Found a few pages with double ispartof and status templates and a few with manually added category statements, but it is not easy to find them all. --Traveler100 (talk) 11:59, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
I haven't analyzed the formulas, but maybe the solution could be on defining more suitable categories, maybe all the ones involved in one single formula created by a single template. --Andyrom75 (talk) 19:37, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
also appears to be some Travel Topic categories with manual additions to destination categories. --Traveler100 (talk) 12:39, 29 December 2016 (UTC)
