Introduction

This is a translation of an article I published on the german wikivoyage. It covers the main route through the Western Sahara by bicycle.

Ich liebe Westsahara. —Justin (koavf)TCM 03:53, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

LG, Alexander Leisser (talk) 11:35, 12 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Winds

[edit]

Could somebody check the paragraphs about the winds (in Climate). I did not make any try at the sucking of Sahara air out of the Mediterranean, and there might be some translation errors also (I do not trust my own German to get it right). --LPfi (talk) 12:34, 13 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Maybe a bug in the translation.I check it as soon as possible. Alexander Leisser (talk) 13:01, 18 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Alexander Leisser: The sucking is still there. What about
" ... strong deep-pressure areas can suck Saharaluft over the Mediterranean. The dry, hot south-south-east sand and dust winds, the Schirokko, are formed."
("... starke Tiefdruckgebiete über dem Mittelmeer Saharaluft ansaugen. Es entstehen die trockenen, heißen südlichen bis südöstlichen Sand- und Staubwinde, der Schirokko.")
"...strong deep-pressure areas can suck air from Sahara out over the Mediterranean, creating dry, hot south to south-east winds, with sand and dust: the Schirokko."

Untranslated section

[edit]

It seems the sections from Tarfaya to Ad-Dakhla are untranslated. --LPfi (talk) 17:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

It looks like some translation is still needed...I see a lot of "nach"s in the article. —Granger (talk · contribs) 13:22, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
I still see some German, starting with the Nouadhibou section. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:09, 17 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Any update since 2006?

[edit]

It looks like this very interesting article was written in 2006. I realize few travelers are adventurous enough to bike this entire route, but any updates would be very helpful.

On another topic, I think the Ramadan infobox and link should be put somewhere in this article, don't you? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:33, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: Why is that? Just because it's set in the Muslim world...? —Justin (koavf)TCM 09:54, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Of course. That's always the reason for putting in the infobox. Plus, Ramadan is mentioned and discussed somewhat in the article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:03, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good to me. —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:18, 16 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Added more info on religion, Ramadandates template. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:09, 17 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
