Districts?

[edit]

It looks like several district articles for this city have been created without discussion. Considering that this is hardly an overly long article, I think they will all need to be merged and redirected to this article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:49, 30 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: I have merged in Inalende. Are there others? Ground Zero (talk) 23:59, 11 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! There's the issue of Ibadan/Challenge; see Talk:Ibadan/Challenge. Is it truly a district of Ibadan city, or is it a separate town in Oyo state? It seems to be part of Ibadan. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:03, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's part of Ibadan. I don't think, we need to move the supermarket listings, though. Ground Zero (talk) 00:11, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Probably not, but maybe the other listings as needed. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:02, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I made a proposal a few weeks ago on Talk:Ibadan/Challenge to merge it though I never ended up doing it. I'll do it in the next few days. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:28, 16 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Done. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:48, 18 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Destination of the Month?

[edit]

What does this article need to feature as a Destination of the Month? /Yvwv (talk) 16:42, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Right now, I'd want to avoid any feature of Nigeria, at least for another few months, if not until 2023 or even 2024. This article was a good guide article as at Special:PermaLink/4259284, but since then, this article has gotten messy and out-of-hand due to a recent Nigeria expedition. Unfortunately, that expedition rewarded participants solely based on the creation of content, and byte size. The former led to a district article unilaterally being created that has now since been merged (Ibadan/Challenge), while the latter has led to description-less listings added, both of which IMO have degraded the quality of this article from guide to informative. Copyright violations haven't really affected this article, but we don't know yet – some editors who've edited this article during the expedition like Paulboht or OTim75 have a known history of copyvios (just look at c:User talk:Paulboht for some context).
This isn't an issue with only this article, and so our Nigeria articles are a bit messy right now. While there have been editors who've been working to clean this up, many of us have sort of given up for the time being, and I recently saw on meta.wikimedia that there's another Nigeria expedition going on (but it doesn't affect en.voy much) hence why I'd want to avoid a feature of a destination from Nigeria for the time being. I have an inside feeling this will take another six months to clean the result of the expedition up, and though it's five months since the expedition, this issue sadly remains. Number of restaurants

[edit]

@User:King ChristLike, Iwuala Lucy, SHB2000: There are now 30 restaurants listed on this article. Please do not add any more restaurants. Please read Wikivoyage:Goals and non-goals:

"City guides should certainly include information for travel-related companies, but these should be kept to a useful number. Think of a friend from out of town asking you where they should go – you wouldn't list all 200 possibilities, but 5–10 options for a particular

This guide would be more useful to readers if we started deleting listings for ordinary restaurants so that the reader can focus on the best and most interesting ones. Ground Zero (talk) 19:28, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Alright. Noted King ChristLike (talk) 19:47, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also see Wikivoyage:Avoid long lists – having long lists without subdivision will only intimidate the reader. --SHB2000 (t | c | m) 22:51, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
