Other destinations[edit]

These are specifically not supposed to be cities, towns or villages, and there should be no more than 9 of them. I'm not too familiar with Luzon (sure, I recognize it on a map, but I haven't been there), but I trust that others who are more familiar with the island will come up with a list of 9 non-cities to put there. Please discuss this below. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:24, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree this needs to have an overhaul. Locations like Vigan and Tagaytay better fits the cities. I created articles for some places that can be considered "Other destinations" like Mabini, Taal Volcano, Mount Banahaw and Polillo Island, but the last item is not known very much to be listed. Plus, we already have 10, so we need to cut down it to 9.--TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 04:39, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cities[edit]

Our current cities lists Manila, Angeles, Antipolo, Baguio, Calamba, Legazpi, and Makati. I think we must replace some of them, which are not much of interest for ordinary travellers. Vigan and Tagaytay are candidates for the list, but are listed on the "Other destinations". Any opinions needed, especially of User:Pashley.-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 04:36, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just a general comment: Business travelers are also travelers, so if the places that aren't of much interest to tourists have a very high volume of business travel, it could be legitimate to include them. That said, I would tend to trust your judgment. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:02, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So, it is agreed we keep Makati on the list, even it's much of a business destination (though there are malls and some neighbourhoods of importance). For me, I propose removing Antipolo on the list, as it's not much as prominent as locations like Tagaytay and Vigan. For Calamba, I have second thoughts as its page is incomplete this time, but it can remain in the list for its resorts and historic locations.-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 21:08, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The regions list does not seem to include Mimaropa. Is that right? See also VFD discusiion on that article's talk page. We currently have the MImaropa article tagged as an extra-hierarchcical region & breadrcrumbs for Mindoro, Marinduque & Romblon (but not Palawan) pointing to Luzon.
Should we put Metro Manila in the cities list instead of both Manila & Makati? Or all three plus Quezon City?
Currently we have two cities in Calabarzon, Calamba & Antipolo. Is that one too many? I'd have used Batangas City instead of both, since it is a provincial capital & transport hub, but I do not know the region well yet. Pashley (talk) 04:37, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Overhaul still needed[edit]

The above two sections list problems with Luzon#Cities & Luzon#Other_destinations. The criticism seems correct to me, but neither section has a comment less than a year old & no fixes have been made. Pashley (talk) 04:09, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I edited the cities section. Comment solicited. I'm still thinking about Other destinations. Pashley (talk) 12:37, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Airport question[edit]

Luzon#By_plane says there are four international airports, but lists only three. What's the 4th? Pashley (talk) 12:20, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pashley: According to w:List of airports in the Philippines#International airports, the four international airports in Luzon are Clark International Airport, Laoag International Airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and Puerto Princesa International Airport. It seems Puerto Princesa International Airport is missing. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:37, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We don't list Loag & do list Bicol, which WP does not have. Puerto is in Palawan, which the Philippine gov't classifies under Luzon for administration but WV treats as a separate region for travel. Pashley (talk) 12:45, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see. That's where the fourth comes from. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:48, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Edited to add Laoag. Pashley (talk) 13:24, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
