Pagebanner issue

[edit]

There's a problem with this pagebanner: It's a view in Darjeeling, which is part of West Bengal and not treated as part of North-Eastern India. It's beautiful and should be used for something, but a different banner is needed for this page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:15, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

It might actually be superior to the currently-used West Bengal banner, but North Bengal has no banner, so this banner should be moved there right away (or whenever anyone gets around to it). Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:17, 6 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
The banner still hasn't been moved. I'm not really sure how to do it. This banner needs to be moved to North Bengal and replaced with a scene from this part of India. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:41, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I added the banner to Northeast India, and managed to persuade the %&/€%&€ known as Wikidata that it shouldn't be on this article. ϒpsilon (talk) 14:22, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:48, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
You mean you added it to North Bengal, of course. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:49, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Unless WickedWikidata automatically reverted my edits later. :) ϒpsilon (talk) 21:20, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dynamic map

[edit]

Dynamic maps are normally not used in region articles, so I've reverted the addition of one. Instead, if any cities or other destinations need to be added to the static map, that should be done.

The places listed on this map are not likely to be moved or close. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:53, 14 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dear Ikan Kekek I have added dynamic maps in other regions of India, do you think they need to be removed?? --Rangan Datta Wiki (talk) 08:58, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion, there should not be dynamic maps at the region or districted city level. If there's a reason for an exception to the rule, it wouldn't normally be in an article that already has a static map. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:07, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I guess someone restored it at a certain point. Can we please re-delete it and add any parks not already in the static map to that map? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:25, 2 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sikkim is in North East India

[edit]

Sikkim is in North East India, and not in East India. It's explicitly written in English Wikipedia article. Haoreima (talk) 06:55, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoyage's divisions doesn't always correspond with encyclopedic definitions and administrative divisions. Countries and regions are divided and subdivided as per the 7+2 rule as well as Wikivoyage:The traveller comes first. Chhattisgarh is another state which is treated differently between the project (Central in Wikipedia and Eastern here). The divisions are based on making the guide easier to navigate and the geographic realities of the region. French Polynesia is technically part of France but it is not treated as such under the breadcrumbing structure because it is so far from France that it is practically more useful to treat it as a separate geographic entity. In the case of Sikkim, Eastern India has fewer number of states and Sikkim is physically connected to Northern Bengal, while it does not border Assam or any northeastern state. Hence the decisions to classify under Eastern India. Gizza (roam) 07:26, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@DaGizza: Thank you, friend, for your clarification. I am new to Wikivoyage! Well, I like your kindness for clarification! :) Haoreima (talk) 07:30, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps it can be mentioned in here, and note that Wikivoyage covers it under East India, similar to how NZ is mentioned in Polynesia. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:46, 2 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Other destinations from Manipur and Mizoram

[edit]

The § Other destinations section currently has five, but I noticed that there are currently no other destinations listed in Manipur and Mizoram and per wv:7+2, there's four more that we can add. Tripura also doesn't have any other destinations, but it is not as large as the other states, but we can try to have one. For Manipur, my suggestions would be Keibul Lamjao National Park and Sirohi National Park as these two national parks have an article. Don't know whether it's the most important thing in Manipur though.

For Mizoram, I don't know what to add, as coverage on Mizoram is very low, but the only suggestion I'd have is Vangchhia (currently has no article), but only suggesting it because of this. For Tripura, I don't know what to add, given it's a small state, but w:Clouded Leopard National Park seems like a nice one to add, but we don't have an article on that either. If we don't want to add non-existant articles, we can at add the two Manipuri national parks, and leave out the ones in Mizoram and Tripura until we get an other destination from both of these two states. @Haoreima, 2006nishan178713:, what do you think? If you've got better suggestions, please call it out. I'm no expert in the region, and my experience in India as a whole is mostly limited to Kerala and a quick visit to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 10:27, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

SHB2000 Thanks for informing us! Yeah, please add the two National Parks of Manipur. Meanwhile, I will try to add some more contents of Manipur as well as other North East states, by creating articles. In the section "§ Other destinations", I saw only "national parks", if that's the case, then shall we change the section's name into "National park" explicitly to draw more attention from readers! Just my opinion! And if the case is that the section also allows other destinations, besides national parks, then, I have some suggestions — Loktak Lake, Thanga (this island itself is within the Loktak lake and the Keibul Lamjao National Park itself is within this island's political jurisdiction) and Yangoupokpi-Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary! --Haoreima (talk) 10:35, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
For what it's worth, anything can be listed as an other destination, as long as it is not a city or a town, unless it's something like a resort village or town. Similarly, they also don't have to be just about natural attractions – cultural attractions can certainly go too (just like how Taj Mahal or Ellora Caves are mentioned in India#Other destinations, Mount Rushmore National Memorial in USA#Other destinations, Disneyland Paris in France#Other destinations or Budj Bim National Park in Victoria (state)#Other destinations.
As to which ones you think fit best, I'll leave that to you – feel free to add what you think is best. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 10:46, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
@SHB2000, Yep! I will add something about Tripura probably mid-May (maybe later today) Cheers! 2006nishan178713t@lk 12:25, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Feel free to take your time and it's really appreciated. Good luck for your exams :-). SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:59, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
