Touting

[edit]

The Bustart section is blatant adverisment! Therefore I took the liberty of ousting that part...

I reverted your deletion - you're right that we don't let touting take place on Wikivoyage, but in future, remove the touting bit of the listing, and you're left with a valid bit of information. See Project:The traveller comes first for more info. -- (WT-en) Tim 18:11, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Rest rooms

[edit]

(There doesn't seem to be any place for this sort of thing in wikivoyage. I wonder why.) Anyway, we found facilities were lacking in the downtown pedestrian mall unless you were a restaurant patron. That is, there are no public rest rooms.(WT-en) Student7 21:53, 13 September 2007 (EDT)

Splurge hotels

[edit]

on splurge for hotels, there is the Chandris Hotel Chain and this month a hotel "The Met" has opened. Also, Macedonian Hotel which belongs under 'splurge' list - both hotels are in the center —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 89.210.137.27 (talkcontribs) 22:43, 2 July 2010

Please plunge forward and add them yourself, preferably formatted as listings, complete with address, contact, and price info. (WT-en) Vidimian 03:40, 3 July 2010 (EDT)

Alternative banner for this article?

[edit]
Banner currently used in this article
Suggested new alternative banner

I created a new alternative banner for this article (I initially created it first and foremost so that it would be used at the top of the parallel article in the Hebrew edition of Wikivoyage, yet I later decided to also suggest that the English Wikivoyage community would consider using it here as well). So, which banner do you prefer having at the top of this article? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 05:49, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

This initially seemed like a tough choice to me, because the current banner seemingly focuses on a couple of iconic buildings. However, I would support changing to this beautiful panorama, and what clinched it for me is that the current banner is a 360-degree view of a single building, which no-one can see at a single glance. Both banners are fine compositions, so that's no issue either way. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:16, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
I am OK with changing to the new banner. I am quite afraid it is a bit generic - I know Saloniki and I wouldn't recognize it from this pic! PrinceGloria (talk) 11:31, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Good point, Ikan Kekek. I was thinking: such a nice symetry... The newly suggested banner is fine, but not brilliant. Still, worth replacing. I plan to go to Thessaloniki later this year, so maybe I'll have an opportunity to make some good banner photo. Danapit (talk) 17:40, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yup replace, only because the current one is somewhat deceptive. --Andrewssi2 (talk) 09:38, 12 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Current. Though there is space for improvement. Syced (talk) 07:35, 13 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Best gyro on Aristotelous Square

[edit]

I reccomend to eat gyro at Λάδι και Ρίγανη on Aristotelous Square. Trust me, it will pay off. EmiliaITČA (talk) 17:34, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Post a listing in the article, though have a look at the don't tout guidelines, some of which may surprise you. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:35, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, rarely I edit on Discussion page EmiliaITČA (talk) 17:49, 27 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Names

[edit]

There are names provided in a bunch of languages in the lead paragraph. Surely we need only English and Greek. The rest can be found in the Wikipedia article. Ground Zero (talk) 16:55, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
