Changing the banner.

Current banner, a field near Tiel Passewaaij, a suburb of the city itself.

Option #1, depicting a statue of Flipje in Tiel's city centre. Flipje is a comic book figure and mascot for Tiel-based jam manufacturer De Betuwe (not to be confused with the region), and thusly became a mascot of the city as a whole.

Option #2, showing the Waterpoort, one of the city gates providing access to the historical inner city.

The current banner of Tiel is more representative of Rivierenland as a whole, rather than a proper representation of Tiel. On the banner suggestions page, I received two alternatives that could be used. The first one being Flipje, the second one being the Waterpoort. Though I personally prefer the image of Flipje as it is the city's mascot, I would like to hear whether people are opposed to this change on this before adjusting it. I've added the banners in previews as per the usual proceedings. As for my judgement, my order of preference from most to least favourite is 1, 2, current. As said, the current banner is originally intended as a banner for a region article (hence its filename). It does very little to depict Tiel itself. In contrast, Flipje is without a doubt the personification of Tiel, so a banner depicting him should be a no-brainer. The second is a decent banner, but I'm slightly annoyed with how there's currently no good pictures of the Waterpoort that don't include at least two large traffic signs.

I also like Option #1, and I think we have all agreed.

@RonanHoogmoed, do you know how to change the banner? It's easier to do in the old wikitext source code. Click "Edit source" to open this article and find the banner code at the top of the wikitext. It says: {{pagebanner|Betuwe Wikivoyage Banner Opt3.JPG}} now. Take out the old banner name (Betuwe Wikivoyage Banner Opt3.JPG) and put in the new banner name (Tiel Wikivoyage Banner-1.jpg). Scroll down the page. Add an edit summary (example: "Change banner image") and click the blue button to "Publish changes". WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:21, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
