Type of article[edit]

Maybe this should be an itineraries rather than a park article. --Traveler100 (talk) 07:15, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No. The intention was to cover all sights and do of this area. It is also about things to do besides the road, like waterfalls, etc. And it shall give an impression on where to head next from here, e.g. there is many stuff mentioned under Coroico, which actually fits better here, like traveling further southeast. Rather it might actually be a sub-region, but it also includes fees for the cycling, for example. Cheers Ceever (talk) 14:05, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Based on what I heard about the Death Road from other travellers when I was in La Paz, this strikes me as a somewhat tricky topic to fit into one of Wikivoyage's standard article types. I share Traveler100's impression that it would be better as an itinerary article, maybe one that's relatively light on the route description and heavy on other information (like Inca Trail). But I haven't taken the road, so my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. If Ceever is planning to expand the article, I guess we can let it develop and see how it looks. —Granger (talk · contribs) 15:48, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
As said, it is not so much about the road itself, but the region it lies in. I personally find it a little sad that many people come her just to do an overpriced tour down the hill, but miss out on the other important things that are to do and see here, like the trails, and so on. Also, apparently it can be a gateway into Quime. I think it is important to develop the meaning of the region, so people have a great alternative to just going forth and back from La Paz. Also, it is a nice stopover to the lowland region, instead of sitting 20 h in a bus.
But give me some time and go ahead continuing the discussion in about 2-3 weeks or so.

Alternative banner for this article?[edit]

Banner currently used in this article
Suggested new alternative banner

I have previously created an alternative banner for this article (which was initially created for the parallel article at the Hebrew Wikivoyage, but I decided to suggest we'll use it here at the English Wikivoyage article as well). Which banner do you prefer that we'll use on the top of this article? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 21:41, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to favor the current banner, but please make an argument for why the new banner is better. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:41, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't taken this road, but I know it's famous for dangerous cliffs like the one depicted in the alternative banner. On that basis I prefer the alternative. Pinging @Ceever:, who will probably have a more informed opinion than I do. —Granger (talk · contribs) 06:58, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Mx. Granger: ... appreciate it 👍 Actually, OP has a point, the current picture does not so much represent the Yungas Road like the new one, since the roads speciality is its steepness and remoteness, similar to those well-known roads in Nepal and the Himalayas. Also, I believe most of the parts interesting to tourists is unsealed. So, I prefer the new one (sorry Ikan ;-). However, I will slightly adjust it, so we see more of the actual road.
