Welcome

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for your interest in creating an article for the Barabar Caves. Welcome to Wikivoyage. I hope that you'll enjoy sharing information with fellow travellers through this project.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines, style, and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you need help, post a question in the Arrivals lounge.

For Barabar and Nagarjuni Hill Caves, I suggest using the Wikivoyage:Quick park article template to get started. Please leave out any headings that you think are not needed for this article. I will assist with formatting the new article. Ground Zero (talk) 09:06, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would also like to welcome you to this project. If you're looking for any inspirational cave articles, I recently wrote this article, although not finished. You can also get the park article template when you create an article and click the "National Park" on the top, even though Barabar Caves may not be a national park (it's designed for national parks, but we've used it for other types of conservation areas too, including caves).
I too, will help with formatting if needed. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:57, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@SHB2000: wow. I had never noticed the tmeplates at the top of the edit page for a new article. That's much easier. Thanks. @Abhisal2408: we look forward to your contribution. Ground Zero (talk) 12:16, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also looking forward to your contributions too :) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 20:13, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Ground Zero @SHB2000 guys i need help creating map .can anyone of you please guide me. Abhisal2408 (talk) 16:16, 5 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
(1) You can post to Wikivoyage:Requests for maps; (2) look at Wikivoyage:How to use dynamic maps, starting with the "Embed a dynamic map" section, and ask questions in the Travellers' pub about anything that isn't clear; (3) if you want to create a map of a region that should be a static map, you can look at Wikivoyage:How to draw static maps. @Ground Zero @Ikan Kekek @SHB2000 guys i have started adding the contents can any of you please resize the banner if anybody knows how to do so Abhisal2408 (talk) 03:50, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Abhisal2408, I am sorry that I can't help with a map. I have changed the banner to the 7:1 format using this crop tool. I have also done some reorganising and formatting to make this look more like other Wikipedia articles, and connected it to Wikidata, so it is now linked from the Wikipedia article. Thank you for your contribution. I hope to see more contributions from you about Indian (or other) destinations. Ground Zero (talk) 04:08, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
ok tysm :) Abhisal2408 (talk) 04:14, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also, it would be helpful to have contact information for the hotels listed -- phone numbers, hotel websites (we don't link to booking sites like Agoda). Thanks. Ground Zero (talk) 04:15, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I never learned how to make maps, either. Ground Zero, thanks for helping out! Abhisal2408, one thing you could do is use Wikivoyage:Listing templates. That's by no means of crucial importance, so don't let it slow down your work adding content, but eventually, almost all listings should be put in that format. If you look at the top of your edit screen, next to the word "Listings", you can see several icons. If you click the Greek temple, you produce a blank "See" listing template; the bicycle icon produces a "Do" listing template; the shopping cart, a "Buy" listing template; the knife and spoon, an "Eat" listing template; the cocktail glass, "Drink"; the bed, "Sleep"; the airplane, "Go" (useful for listing airports, train stations, bus stations); and the italic letter "i", a generic listing template for items that don't fit into any other category. @Ground Zero @Ikan Kekek thanx @SHB2000 guys i have created the map on the openstreetmap.com but i dont know how to add it on the page. Abhisal2408 (talk) 05:32, 8 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm extremely sorry that I couldn't answer your message earlier. I've been interstate (or out-of-state) and didn't have my computer with me (and was in a place with little reception and it's hard to edit via mobile). I've now added the map, although until there's coordinates, the map for the timebeing is somewhat useless. OTOH, if you did create the boundaries on OSM, all you need to do is add a wikidata tag and insert Q1311736 (which is the Wikidata item for this cave).
To Ground Zero and Ikan, thanks for helping out. Extremely sorry that I couldn't help earlier :-(. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:12, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
No worries! The entire reason for there to be multiple admins is that none of us can or even should be here all the time. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:45, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also to Abhisal2408, for some inspiration, from Category:Guide parks, here's some of the finest cave articles that Wikivoyage has to offer. Listing all our guide cave articles.
