Hello, Danielt998! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals. Autopatroller

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that although your edits prior to this month have been sparing, they've all been good and you've been editing here since 2015, so I took the chance to make you an Autopatroller. Carry on! Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:26, 31 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Kudos!

Odd "typo"

[edit]

Here you clean up and fix a "typo": km² → km2. I would do it the other way round. Are there web browsers that cannot render Latin1 characters (U+80–FF) sensibly or why does it need to be "fixed"? I can understand a need for more controlled rendering in mathematics, but here I do not see the reason. –LPfi (talk) 16:03, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Good question, I was just using the default AWB template here, I assume that does this for a reason, but maybe not, or it may not be necessary any more, might be worth asking on that talk page there Danielt998 (talk) 16:23, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Looks as though something similar is done on en Wikipedia too which is probably where this came from Danielt998 (talk) 16:28, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Probably, yes, and I suppose it is for expressions like 2³·28, where the typing becomes non-intuitive, the wikitext ugly and the rendering may be less than optimal. Here, were I think even m³ is uncommon, there is no need to use the expressions, other than when the keyboard is unfamiliar or in very unusual cases. Probably the AWB template should be changed, but one would feel more comfortable doing changes if one new the reason. –LPfi (talk) 16:54, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Many thanks for your ongoing work to make Wikivoyage looks better and easier to read by correcting typos and formatting errors. Regards, Ground Zero (talk) 17:52, 9 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Still, are the many {{EUR}} in this edit really needed? As the sums are simple (€1/1.5/2/3/4) I'd rather convert the most important price and let readers do the rest of the arithmetic themselves. Or, if we really do want the conversion at every monetary amount (here the templated ones seem arbitrarily chosen), we should include guidance in relevant guidelines. –LPfi (talk) 16:21, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah good question, I was just adding them everywhere where I was fixing the formatting anyway - I can try to minimise it or just fix the formatting without the template if that would be better? Danielt998 (talk) 16:29, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think that our practice is that the template is used only at some key places. I don't think I have seen it used in listings. I don't have any strong opinion on whether its use should be increased, but at this stage, I think it should be added only after some consideration about the individual case. –LPfi (talk) 06:13, 31 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
