Editing archived pages[edit]

Hello Kwamikagami, can you please not edit archived pages like you did here and here. They are not supposed to be edited, as the name "archive" says. Thank you. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:29, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Where Portuguese is spoken[edit]

Hi. Kwamikagami. Your great work is much appreciated! However, for once, I'm not sure I agree with an action you've taken: I'm not sure your map substitution is optimal. Please have a look at w:Geographical distribution of Portuguese speakers, noting, for example, the "Rest of Europe" section:

"Portuguese-speaking immigrants from Portugal, Brazil, Portuguese-speaking Africa and Macau have also settled in Andorra (around 15,000 speakers), Belgium, France (around 500,000 speakers), Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. In Luxembourg, 19% of the population speaks Portuguese as mother tongue, making it the largest minority language by percentage in a Western European country."

Your thoughts? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:40, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ikan Kekek,
Andorra and Luxembourg are on the new map. The other populations aren't particularly significant percentage-wise. If you think some of those other countries should be included, we can always add them.
The old map has been described as "a mess", but more importantly it's inaccurate. It includes creoles, which are not Portuguese. And if we were to count creoles, we would need to add Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, which are currently missing. I should probably add them, as that map is used by articles on Portuguese creoles, but IMO it's not the best for Portuguese alone. Kwamikagami (talk) 10:48, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'm totally satisfied with your take on this. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:04, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
