Please be careful

Semmy1960: welcome to Wikivoyage. Thank you for your contributions to the Jos Wildlife Park article. Please be more careful when you are editing. In this edit, you removed all of my contributions, which did not "improve the article". Doing so made it worse. My edits were restored by another contributor. Hello Semmy1960! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

Please note that we don't use ref tags on this site. You can cite your sources in edit summaries or on the talk page of the article in question. Thanks, and please carry on!

All the best,

Please kindly explain better. i am new on Wikivoyage. you dont do inline reference, is that what you mean? Thank you for your observation. Semmy1960 (talk) 08:09, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
No, we don't, and we don't use ref tags. I'm suggesting that you can cite sources for information by linking their URLs in a message you type in the "Summary" box below your edit screen. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:46, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikivoyage:What is an article?

[edit]

Train stations such as Mobolaji Johnson Train Station should not have their own articles. Instead, policy directs that forms of transportation be added to the most relevant article, maybe Lagos City or Lagos State. The only exception to this rule is large airports, which can have their own articles.

Please add new information about this train station to a city or region article instead. Thank you. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 16:42, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Okay. I realize now you are creating these articles for a competition. In that case, I would try one of the railway articles, for instance Lagos-Ibadan Railway, as an itinerary article. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 16:46, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Do you want Mobolaji Johnson Train Station under Lagos-Ibadan Railway? Semmy1960 (talk) 17:36, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
If you think you can write an article about the railway, please do so. We would usually delete an article about a railway station without hesitation. Ground Zero (talk) 17:47, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay thanks. Semmy1960 (talk) 17:53, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree with what GZ is saying, so feel free to write about the railway, and then redirect information about the railway stations to that article. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 19:04, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
But if i write, wont it be put up for deletion? Semmy1960 (talk) 19:07, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I have set up Lagos-Ibadan Railway for you. Trans-Siberian Railway is an example of an excellent (and accepted) railway article; these are allowed per policy. Notice how it mentions stations along the way but just has a brief overview of each one within the overall railway article. West Highland Line is another example. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 19:13, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
And to answer your question, no, a railway itinerary article will not be put up for deletion. A railway station page that redirects to a railway article will not be deleted. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 19:15, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would like to qualify that: a railway itinerary that has travel information in it won't be deleted. A skeleton article (one that doesn't have any information usegul for travellers in it) can be deleted. Ground Zero (talk) 19:40, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would also like to question the existence of Ikogosi Warm Springs. It looks like an individual attraction to me. We're a little lenient with far-away to get to places, but they would ideally get the park article status, but this one doesn't seem to fit that criteria. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:29, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I dont know what you mean by individual attraction? When i was into tourism i was there to actually see the mystery behind hot and cold water meeting at a point without mixing together. I have been there. Semmy1960 (talk) 03:46, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok, so that seems rather interesting for me to merit it's own article. Should have read the article more carefully. Apologies :-( SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 03:52, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Warm springs often are near a town or resort, so I think they’re more likely to merit articles than other geographical features.
An “individual attraction” is one thing a tourists visit. Examples include the Eiffel Tower and the Sphinx (which don’t have their own articles). For a place to have an article on Wikivoyage it must have get in, see, eat, and sleep, and where most individual attractions fall short is eat and sleep. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 11:25, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
It has eat, sleep Semmy1960 (talk) 20:03, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Then it is an acceptable article. --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 23:25, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
