Who have the link?[edit]

Has the "Move this page" link been disabled for some users since the WMF move, or is there another reason I can't find it? Querent (talk) 06:36, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moving articles from an Android[edit]

Swept in from the pub

I'd like to move Air sport to Skydiving per the discussion on the Talk:Air sport page, but I don't see any option for doing that on my Android, as the cellphone interface on this site still really sucks. Well, you can cheat. Typing Special:MovePage/current-name into the search bar should take you to the right place. As for a good way to do it... Perhaps we'll find that some time. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:56, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting a move[edit]

Brycehughes asks in the Pub where to ask for a page to be moved. This page assumes the "move this page" link works, but in some cases admin assistance is needed. Do we simply assume some admin will notice a request wherever it is posted, should such requests be made in the Pub or do we have some formalised procedure, such as a template (Template:Move is an unrelated redirect) or a dedicated page? Some guidance on what constitutes a "quorum" at Wikivoyage would be helpful as well. Even if I was able to technically move the page, I would have no idea if it was appropriate after n !votes (or whatever they're considered here). Brycehughes (talk) 09:23, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If there is a discussion with experienced wikivoyagers involved, hopefully one of them will decide that there is a consensus on the move. Anyone can ask "can this be seen as a consensus?" if it seems the discussion has died out without action. Anybody with the technical capacity can be brave at that point. We try to avoid formal rules when common sense can do – especially as writing rules that make sense for every case is much harder than just deciding on the individual cases. –LPfi (talk) 11:21, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but where? That's the part I don't quite get. Given that things are de-centralised off to individual talk pages here (at least re en.wp), there just doesn't seem to be an effecive, non-embarrassing mechanism for asking for action, especially for low-traffic pages, outside of spamming RFC or bugging random admins (or, christ, posting to the pub). If spamming RFC is the solution, fine, but it'd be nice to have that elucidated somewhere. Brycehughes (talk) 12:02, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In contrast to en-wp, there is little enough traffic here that one actually can monitor all edits. Any edit anywhere will usually be seen by some admin, so asking at the article's talk page actually often works. Even a low-traffic article may be watchlisted by some people interested in the region (Uro Islands is watchlisted by 7, 3 of which "visited recent edits" whatever that means). For me, having a good edit summary helps. And asking on the Pub is no big deal, there isn't too much traffic there. –LPfi (talk) 15:46, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@LPfi: What would you think about adding an additional sentence after the numbered list? E.g. "If you are unable to move the page yourself (due to technical reasons), contact an administrator on their talk page (see a list of administrators here) or, alternatively, you can notify the community at the Travellers' pub." Close move discussion?[edit]

Not sure if this is pub-worthy, but how do move discussions, such as this one, get closed and actioned? I am unable to move it over the redirect, although I have no idea if it's close-worthy at this point anyway. Is it just a matter of finding an admin and asking them? Thanks.
