Expanding this article[edit]

There's a good article on de.voy about Carnival, called de:Karneval, Fastnacht und Fasching. Unfortunately, my German isn't good enough to filter out what's relevant and what's not and a lot of the content is centred around German-speaking countries, but some of the content could be translated into English. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:16, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

CNBC has The World’s Most Popular Carnival Celebrations some of which might be added here. Not all they list are pre-Lent festivals.
They seem confused about some; for example they list the January Ati-Athan festival in the Philippines which is akin to Sinulog rather than to Lenten carnivals. Pashley (talk) 08:46, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization[edit]

Should Carnival be uppercase? I think it should, just like Christmas, New Years, etc. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:35, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It does depend on context, but mostly I agree. Should it sometimes be Carnivale, with the 'e'? Pashley (talk) 01:42, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In Italy (Carnevale, though), but not in Spanish- or Portuguese-speaking countries, right? Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:57, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Any objections to capitalizing all instances of "Carnival" in the singular? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:30, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's a no-brainer not to capitalise "Carnival" because it's a proper name and should be capitalised whenever it's used in English. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 07:50, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:37, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
