Can we get an eat listing?[edit]

It's the only thing holding us back from "usable" status here... Hobbitschuster (talk) 01:31, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If there are no eateries worth mentioning, then don't mention them just for the sake of upgrading to a "usable" status. We don't want to "recommend" mediocre or bad restaurants because we like to make the district "usable". ArticCynda (talk) 07:54, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well you want to insert random, wrong and disgusting attacks on "Jewry" into any article you can get your hands on, so I am not sure your opinion should have that much weight here. Also, refer to the WV:Be fair policy and the "avoid negative reviews" policy in full. It contains exceptions where sub-par options are the only thing there is. And it is pretty explicit on a couple of other things you seem to not know or care about. Hobbitschuster (talk) 11:58, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is the mapmask wrong or are the listings?[edit]

The mapmask excludes about half the listings. Which one is wrong? Hobbitschuster (talk) 22:39, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When you say the mapmask, do mean the lightly-colored section of the map? Because those might be technical boundaries for the district, while the listings cover the district as it is defined by WV's hierarchy and organization. Selfie City (talk) 23:04, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, there's the same problem on a number of English county pages. I'm starting to dislike dynamic maps, especially for larger areas. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 23:09, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The boundaries are drawn by hand, though. The user with the Hebrew name drew them. Hobbitschuster (talk) 23:31, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Moved listings to their respective neighbor districts until a proper solution for the map can be found. I suggest to follow the example of Brussels, which is an excellent implementation of dynamic maps on Wikivoyage.
@Hobbitschuster: be careful with referrals to users based on their language and/or ethnicity, it tends to be too easily confused with antisemitism on Wikivoyage... ArticCynda (talk) 07:59, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Where did the removed listings go?[edit]

So the user who refuses to address the accusations of antisemitism leveled against them removed a bunch of listings. This would be fine if they were moved to the appropriate article(s). The edit summary doesn't indicate that. I don't think we should just delete listings until it is clear the district boundaries actually cover all of Moscow without overlaps. Because if that is the case, there is an article for every listing. And if it has thus far not been possible to locate the article where the listings belong, maybe the mapshape is wrong after all. Swept in from the pub

The map in the district article Moscow/Central North shows POIs outside the shaded area of the map. Either the shaded area needs to be redrawn or the listings moved. Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:02, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If I remember rightly, the map for this district has been an issue before, perhaps even quite recently. Selfie City (talk) 15:04, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, see Talk:Moscow/Central-North; it was brought up about six weeks ago. Selfie City (talk) 15:05, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
...And not resolved or addressed... Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:13, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It appears only 2 POIs were outside the district boundaries, so I moved them to their appropriate neighbor districts until a better solution is agreed on. ArticCynda (talk) 07:44, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Because you came a day after I fixed the region to fit 1/2 of the items that were previously outside... :-D In the end, the problem is that our Moscow region boundaries are very badly defined. Andree.sk (talk) 10:42, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oops I didn't check that, thanks for the efforts you invested in fixing the issues, Andree.sk! I agree that the boundaries are quite loosely defined, so perhaps we should move to a Wikimedia Commons hosted map like Brussels or Saint Petersburg? From the recent experience with Brussels and the ongoing discussions in its margins, we know that such a setup is quite a bit of work, but almost immediately pays off because the map becomes a lot easier to maintain. ArticCynda (talk) 11:04, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the extra work, I only left the message in history and didn't bother to write back here :) :( Anywho, in the end we can relatively easily redraw the dynamic map acc. to Moscow_map_by_WikiJunky.jpg, or rework Moscow completely and match the stuff from the Russian comrades...
