[edit]- Oppose Faro is a well-developed article about a city 17 km. Dumping this stuff in would be too much. Maybe there is another article that would be a better merger target? Ground Zero (talk) 04:48, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
- Merge to Loulé. I don't think a seperate article is needed for this "gated" "private land". Disney it ain't. --Nelson Ricardo (talk) 05:35, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- There's a similar discussion at Talk:Vilamoura. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 03:28, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- The article as it stands could be changed into a listing. Loulé mentions it in Do, but without listing or linking. As it is a private gated resort, I suppose anything on offer will be easy to find. Thus we can cut away most of it. –LPfi (talk) 05:44, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Merge per Nelson SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 05:46, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Loulé is also a well-developed article that doesn't need a bunch of stuff dumped in. I don't see the advantage of cutting this down to a listing. Providing less information doesn't benefit the traveller. Ground Zero (talk) 12:58, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- Loulé doesn't look that well developed to me. It's an outline with few listings and several empty sections. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 19:41, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

The article has confusing scope, as it lists things in nearby locations. The mapshape is from the wikidata item for Almancil, which the Wikipedia article says is known for its three Michelin star restaurants. They are not mentioned in Loulé (the only restaurant listing of which is in German). If that article would be overwhelmed by the golf resorts, what about an article on Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and the rest of Almancil, perhaps also including the Vilamoura? –LPfi (talk) 14:42, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
- That's certainly a possibility. I'm not a huge fan of articles at the level of freguesia (civil parish, subdivision of a municipality). I'm not worried about Loulé getting too long. Have you seen our Star article on Caldas da Rainha? Lisbon and Porto are other long Portugal articles, though the former has been under districtifying discussion for some time. - If someone wants to try merging this article so we can see what it looks like, I'll withdraw my objection since others are in favour. I just don't think we should remove content just because it is a resort. Wikivoyage caters to all types of travellers. Ground Zero (talk) 11:30, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and moved any salvageable content to Loulé and redirected. If I failed to move any worthy content, please let me know. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 21:04, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Gated community
[edit]It says Quinta do Lago is a gated community. What does this mean in practice? Is it only that there are gates where you might have to stop, might you have to undergo some inspection at the gate, or do you need to make arrangements with a business in the area? Can you visit individual attractions (golf court, restaurant) without staying there or paying more than those staying at a hotel in the area? –LPfi (talk) 09:45, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- There seems to be lots of roads and paths into the area (the green area on the dynamic map, which I suppose is the Quinta do Lago gated area. Are some of these more or less permanently closed, or are the gates open without guards? In the latter case, what does it mean the "community" is gated? Trespassing forbidden? –LPfi (talk) 09:50, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't know enough specifics beyond the Wikipedia article and their official website at https://www.quintadolago.com/en/. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 20:20, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
