Talk:Western Suburbs (Illinois)

Where is CICERO???? Cicero should be listed as #1 as it is the FIRST suburb west of Chicago. Or is it because there are those who wish Cicero didn't exist? Is it not listed because it is majority Hispanic? Oak Park has greater crime.

Cicero is under Inner Suburbs (Illinois). --Traveler100 (talk) 18:53, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Many Cities[edit]

Per Wikivoyage's 7+2 rule, we'll have to whittle it down quite a bit from 20 to 9.

Here's a list of the cities currently in it, so one doesn't have to switch between two tabs:

Any suggestions for how to cut this down? Jade (talk) 23:31, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bottom-level regions have to list every blue-linked destination breadcrumbed to them, so the more salient question would be whether to subdivide this region so as to have fewer towns listed in each article. Any thoughts of whether or how to do that? Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:33, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ohhhhhhh. I didn't know about listing every destination with an article. A subdividing of this article would obviously cut down on the listings, but the rest of the sections will probably end up empty, a sentence here or there. I think for subdividing, we would add Southwestern Suburbs, per my experience, the road signs and general local usage. This would include Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Naperville, Lisle, and Woodridge for sure. Not quite sure about the others. I'm guessing this page would then have to be renamed, then? It might very well have to be renamed. If you'd like to subdivide this region, please make a proposal, specifying which cities would be in which article. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:46, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization of the title[edit]

Is "suburbs" usually capitalized? The only time where I've ever known "suburbs" to be capitalized is when it was at the start of a phrase, but this clearly isn't. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:44, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So many small villages[edit]

Is it really useful to have handfuls of articles about suburban villages with only thousands of residents each, and a few scattered points of interest and business listings?

Wouldn't it be more useful to group them together? Oak Brook, for example, has 8,000 people, a mini-golf, a shopping mall, and a couple of hotels. Should it have its own article? Ground Zero (talk) 21:10, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
