Too detailed?

[edit]

Regional articles normally have one-liner listings of each city or other destination. It's OK to mention some highlights in prose, but giving bulleted listings for each city, especially when there are over 10 of them, seems like real overkill in a regional article. You're not wrong... --118.93nzp (talk) 22:35, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yep. I'm placing all that below to be sorted out. For now, I'll just put the names of the regions back in the article. Texugo (talk) 17:51, 28 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Is this someone's idea of making the world a better place, going around Wikimedia Commons and finding things to delete? --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 08:05, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
It's to protect Wikimedia from lawsuits. If it's important enough to us, we'll have to upload this photo locally. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:16, 22 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Bias because of russian propaganda

[edit]

"while the nationalistic Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) fought against both empires but also committed murderous crimes against ethnic minorities." So what ethnic minorities apart of not fully proven crimes against Poles? And why you focus the attention on this, which wasn't important in the history of organization? I do not see such unproven dark pages that everyone had in other mentions of rebels who fought for the will of their nation. "But far-right ultra-nationalists like the Svoboda ("Freedom") party also scored strongly in the region." And what lol??? Pure russian narrative. Is this bad? No. Far-right ultra-nationalists are just similar party as others. They haven't done anything bad. Do you write in the article ABOUT TRAVELING in the some English county that people voted for this or for that party?

Bad western Ukraine, because pro-Ukrainian, I got it. 185.183.95.242 22:43, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Read w:Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Some illustrative excerpts: "It [the Ukrainian Insurgent Army] was the primary perpetrator of the ethnic cleansing of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia." "The OUN pursued a policy of infiltrating the German police to obtain weapons and training for fighters. In that role, it helped the Germans to carry out the Holocaust. The Ukrainian auxiliary police, working for the Germans, played a crucial supporting role in the liquidation of 200,000 Jews in Volhynia in the second half of 1942." What Ukraine is today and what the country and its people are facing does not erase the past. As for your attempt to whitewash Svoboda, anyone can just read w:Svoboda (political party), but since they're really no longer politically relevant, it would be entirely reasonable to update the "Understand" section. Don't annoy us by trying to claim that we should show a "pro-Ukrainian" bias by pretending that there were never Nazi collaborators in Ukraine, though. As you said, this is a travel guide, not a place for Ukrainian nationalists to eliminate all references to collaboration in the past. I'm sure you don't have anything good to say about Ukrainians who collaborate with Russians today, so why do you want us to pretend Nazi collaborators didn't operate and kill lots of people inside and outside Ukraine during the Nazi occupation? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:08, 8 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I disagree with the removal of Svoboda. The party may not play an important role on the national level anymore. But it still has its strongholds in Galicia, being the strongest force in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, the second-strongest in Ternopil, and having won the last mayoral elections in the respective oblast capitals by huge margins. This is an important difference compared to all other regions of Ukraine. --RJFF (talk) 15:32, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
It is not unusual to mention the political leaning of a region in the "understand" section of travel guides. E.g. Wales and London/Islington mention that they tend towards Labour. South (United States of America) mentions that most Southern states are Republican-dominated. --RJFF (talk) 15:32, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't have a problem with this. Your explanation in your edit summary was quite sufficient to me. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:44, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't there be a warning?

There's a warning on the Ukraine article that covers it. We don't put labels on every subsidiary article. Ground Zero (talk) 20:27, 26 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
