Thanks for welcoming me. You can be carefree about me; I have gathered quite some experience in other wikis. Thanks for sharing the tips page, surely contains some important information. More to come! Good Day 2006nishan178713 (talk) 17:20, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Geocoordinates

Hi, 2006nishan178713, I was just looking at these edits. It's super-helpful that you've added geo, but you've provided so many decimal places that I'd have to imagine you've specified these locations to the square millimetre or less. You might want to round them a little.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:13, 19 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

ok from the next edits I will round them off a bit

Stuff that's not included in addresses

Just FYI: We don't include anything but the street address in "address" tabs, unless the city is different from the article name. So no city, state, postal code or country name.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:04, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Okay, Thanks for letting me know 2006nishan178713 (talk) 09:14, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
If there's certain articles you might want to look at, here's all of our guide articles breadcrumbed under India:
See how those are formatted. But anyway, it's relatively a minor thing.

Thanks, I will look at these and get some more ideas. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 09:19, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Maps

Hey 2006nishan178713. Just answering your question you asked Ikan.

First thing up, here's just a quick guide into my use of the spellings color and colour

  • color = hex color. the six digit code such as #00ff00 for green
  • colour = the output of what's shown on the map such as green, blue etc.

if you want to colour the map, you'll need to make sure that the boundary you would like to create is on OpenStreetMap. If it's there, then that's great, if not, then get the relation of the boundary you want. So for something like New England National Park, the relation is 5678194. You can find out the relation ID by just entering which district you want in the search bar. After that, you would want to add the Wikidata item of that, so in my example, the one for New England National Park would be Q1982368. Template:Mapshape has a good explanation of how it's done.

After that, have a look at pages such as Portugal or New South Wales to see how it's done. You'll need to choose your hex color by simply searching "hex color picker" and then pick your colour. You should end up with the output, but ping me if you need any further help.

All the best,

Thanks for the advice. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 03:36, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and I forget to mention, you'll need an account to edit OSM. You can use your Wikimedia account though.
Wikivoyage:How to use dynamic maps also has a good explanation. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 04:38, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay 2006nishan178713 (talk) 04:40, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Country article status guidelines

Hi, 2006nishan178713. Is it obvious that Austria is not an outline? The requirements for country articles to become guides are very stringent. See Wikivoyage:Country article status. A key point is that in order for a country article to be a guide, all immediate subregions and the articles for the major cities and other destinations listed in the article must be usable status or better. Are all the articles listed in Austria#Regions, Austria#Cities and Austria#Other destinations usable status or better? Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:39, 25 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the subregions are not usable or better 2006nishan178713 (talk) 05:19, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Another welcome

It is good to see another person editing Indian articles. The site needs that. Are you aware of Wikivoyage:India Expedition? Also, could you have a look at the Bengal article & the controversies on its talk page?

I notice your to-do list has "Create a new article about Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport" but I wonder if that airport is important enough to need an article. See Wikivoyage:Airport_Expedition#Article_criteria. Pashley (talk) 23:20, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I didn't know about Wikivoyage:India Expedition. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 04:53, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The guide about the airport is not needed, I guess 2006nishan178713 (talk) 05:32, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The Bengal talk page is interesting. 2006nishan178713 (talk) 05:37, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
You might also find Kim or Flashman interesting. Pashley (talk) 09:12, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
