Hello, 208.104.229.197! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.

I partially reverted your edit to Olde English District. When I posted in an edit summary that removing the links to city articles damages the article, I didn't realize most of them were red links. However, perhaps these cities merit either having their own articles or being redirects to articles that cover them, among other places? Anyway, if I made a mistake, sorry.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:27, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for the additions you've been making to articles about North and South Carolina! I started the Rock Hill article a few months ago, and it's great to see it turn into something genuinely useful. —Granger (talk · contribs) 15:51, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Copying from Wikipedia[edit]

Hello, and thanks again for helping out, but we need to talk about copying from Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not in the public domain, and while it's permissible to copy text from Wikipedia to Wikivoyage, if you find that it's really best to do so at any point, it is essential for you to credit your source in your edit summary (the box below your edit screen). When that's not done, it violates the Wikivoyage:Copyleft policy, which I'd like you to please read at your earliest convenience. Also please read Wikivoyage:Cooperating with Wikipedia, especially the Wikivoyage:Cooperating with Wikipedia#Am I free to take anything from Wikipedia and post it on Wikivoyage? section. Thanks.

Again, please don't copy and paste from Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but we have rules that we have to follow. Ground Zero (talk) 01:43, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You again copied text from Wikipedia, this time in the Boone (North Carolina) article. That's not acceptable, and if you do it again, it will be necessary to block your posting privileges, so stop now. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:01, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Cities" section of South Carolina article[edit]

Hi. Please look at this edit and edit summary. Listed cities in non-bottom-level region articles are limited to 9 per WV:Avoid long lists. The capital (or county seat, if the region is a county) is placed at the top, and then all the other cities are put in alphabetical order. Thanks.

Best,

Cautionboxes about solar eclipse[edit]

First, I don't think a lot of traffic rises to the level of a caution, but second, this eclipse will be total from coast to coast, if I understood reporting on NPR correctly. So why should there be particular cautions about traffic to cities in South Carolina? I would revert any such cautionbox but would like to read your argument for them first.

Best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:58, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not noticing any replies to any posts on this user talk page, so unless you reply this time, I'll simply do the reversions without further notice. I'd much rather have a discussion than one-way communication, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:15, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please feel free to correct any information that you wish of mine. You are much more knowledgeable of the rules here and feel free to change anything that doesn't follow those rules. Thanks and have a great day! (USER: 208.104.229.197) 11:56, 17 August 2017 (EST)
Thanks for your reply, and I wish you a great day, too! However, this isn't about rules, so much: There's no rule against traffic alerts at all, though it could be an infobox rather than a cautionbox. I simply don't understand the reason for the alerts in this case, and that's why I'm asking you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:11, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! I just posted the caution boxes, because of local alerts that have been posted on emergency signs along interstates in South Carolina, but if you feel it's unnecessary I completely understand! (USER: 208.104.229.197) 15:18, 17 August 2017 (EST)
I don't know whether it's unnecessary. I guess beaches are particularly clear places from which to view the eclipse? If so, I think an infobox in "Get in" is probably warranted. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:38, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Upcountry SC cities[edit]

Thanks for starting all those articles. I look forward to seeing more content in them, like information on how to get there and listings for things to do and see, restaurants and hotels. Thanks a lot.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:26, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Great job with all that content! I'm seeing a problem with some of the mapframes, though: Some seem to show the entire surface of the Earth; Belton (South Carolina) is a lot better but should be zoomed in closer. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:12, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on Simpsonville! Ground Zero (talk) 12:37, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
