User talk:Ligocsicnarf89
Hello Ligocsicnarf89! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → Article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! Tai123.123 (talk) 02:05, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- Also thank you for starting to districify San Juan, I've added a template to make it match our manual of style, you should also read Districtification. I will start moving listings to the old san juan district for you. Tai123.123 (talk) 02:08, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
Adding red links
[edit]Hi, Ligocsicnarf89. Do you plan to create articles for the red-linked places you listed in the Porta del Sol article? If not, please remove their names, as red links are not helpful to readers.
All the best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:55, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, yes these articles will be linked between this week and the next. Working on a project to add entries to the missing towns and cities. I'll summarize these updates as "Add red link for article under construction." if preferred. Thanks! :) Ligocsicnarf89 (talk) 00:58, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
- Super! Thanks, and I'm glad I asked. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:27, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
New articles
[edit]Hello Ligocsicnarf89 and thank you for your contributions to Wikivoyage so far, and your improvements to much of our Puerto Rico articles. One thing though, are you going to add content to these articles? You've created about 28 articles so far, but only two of them have more than 1000 bytes in them. The Bayamón and Barceloneta (Puerto Rico) articles are looking good, but the other articles don't really provide much information for travellers. I would advise you to fill out the articles you've already started instead of creating more and more stubs.
All the best,
--SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:40, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hello and you're welcome! :) I have content to be added in all of these articles ready - mostly for the See/Do sections (and more thorough info for about 18 articles) - just creating the articles before updating them just in case they get deleted for being red links. Do you advice to publish them as the article is completed or as batches? Thank you very much for the advice!!
- Cheers! Ligocsicnarf89 (talk) 06:45, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- It depends on person tbh. I [and some others] usually work on them one by one, but some others mass create and then mass work on them. (on another note, they won't get deleted because it's a red link). But if you're going to work on them, that's great, and there's no probs :) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:56, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- Because you've let people know that you're working on a project, you will be given time to create the articles. We have had problems in the past with new editors who have created a lot of links, or a lot of stubs, and then left the project, leaving behind a lot of clean-up work for other editors — merging and deleting — so that's why some of us are concerned. You have already created some great articles, so I am looking forward to seeing more travel content for these articles. I thinkmit would be best to start adding to the articles you've created before creating new ones. Thanks, Ground Zero (talk) 10:57, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- And to add onto GZ, what worse, we've also had editors who create stubs and deliberately leave it for Someone else to work on it. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:05, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- Gotcha! Thanks so much for the info and the tips! Ligocsicnarf89 (talk) 18:33, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- You’re still creating new municipality articles and presumably intending to create all seventy-something municipalities in the end. As long as all of these have destinations you’re going to add to the respective articles, this is OK. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:27, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- Correct. Great, thanks! :) Ligocsicnarf89 (talk) 21:12, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Ligocsicnarf89, after five months, many of the articles still remain very stubs. I have nominated them for deletion here and you're welcome to comment. I will withdraw the nomination if these are improved. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:38, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
