Is this a fine travel topic?

[edit]
Swept in from the pub

I’d like to create a travel topic on either Sake or Sake in Japan. Im not sure if there are any other topics on individual drinks. The reason I don’t want to include it in Japanese cuisine is because I want to include destinations like breweries and the top 3 sake towns Tai123.123 (talk) 16:07, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely. Wine, Wine Regions of Ontario, Beer, Whiskey, Kentucky bourbon distilleries tours. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:11, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Do you think the “in Japan” in necessary? All destinations will probably be in Japan but it is the only country where sake has large prominence Tai123.123 (talk) 16:15, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
If it helps you decide, Purchasing a kimono is also exclusively about Japan.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 17:04, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
[Edit conflict:] No, it isn't. If there happen to be any other destinations of note somewhere, they can be included, but I doubt there would be. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:05, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I should have said "in the 11 years it's been an article, including the month it was featured travel topic, Purchasing a kimono has only ever been about Japan, but much like the future sake article, if any relevant destinations outside the archipelago arise, they can always be added."
However, the implied point was that the kimono article doesn't feel the need to mention Japan in its title, despite relating to a Japanese product.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 17:32, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry, my post was an edit conflict. I see now that it looks like a reply to you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:54, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oops, yes it does. What a weird coincidence!--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 18:05, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think the article should be Sake, as there are 21 breweries of Sake in the US. AlasdairW (talk) 21:12, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
but the travel topic I plan to write will just feature japanese destinations, thats why I was wondering about the "in japan" ending. Tai123.123 (talk) 00:28, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Don't worry about that. Just create the generic Sake travel topic, and add the destinations in Japan you know about. Other editors can add destinations outside Japan if they know about them. Ok i started it in my Userspace Tai123.123 (talk) 01:45, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
While most of the listings will be in Japan, I think you should have a separate section for listings in other countries. Here is one to add. Ground Zero (talk) 02:15, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • 1 IZUMI Brewery (Ontario Spring Water Sake Company), 51 Gristmill Lane, Toronto, Canada (in the Distillery District), +1 416-365-7253. W Th 3-8PM, F 1-8PM, Sa noon-8PM, Su noon-5PM. Sake brewery following a traditional recipe. Shop, tasting bar and patio. Tour with tasting C$9-20.
Also make sure to adjust the map's show parameters. Let me know if you need help with doing it – happy to help out. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:01, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'll do it like Japanese gardens which features a section for outside Japan Tai123.123 (talk) 06:03, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
On the listing: I think you should remove details (URL, address, phone, hours, price) and link Toronto/Downtown East#Drink (perhaps in the name field). If the place has a Wikidata item, you can link the item code (Qxxxx) instead of the section. By linking to details in the destination article, any updates will be made there, and obsolete information will not be left in the travel topic. The description, why you'd like to visit, can be in both places, with the same or different phrasing (it doesn't get obsolete as often, and isn't crucial – people would check the primary listing anyway). For listings not in their city article, add the listing there (in a Nearby section if the city doesn't have an article) and point to it from the topic article. –LPfi (talk) 08:57, 3 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
