If anyone who's good at making banners feels like making one for this page, may I suggest using this one:

Bouzigues, Hérault 06

Star?[edit]

Aside from a static map, what is missing from this article that could otherwise make it a star? It seems more or less complete and well-written from my (definitely biased) point of view. However, if others could take an objective look at some point, that would be extremely helpful. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 16:32, 17 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There were a few things which I thought about when reading the article:
  • Could something more be said about the village's history? The understand section mentions "medieval backstreets", but how old is the village? Is most of the village architecture medieval, or is it just the street pattern? What about the part Bouzigues which is not part of "Old Bouzigues"? Has there been any events in its history which is of interest to a traveler?
  • What does Bosigas mean in Occitan?
  • How large is Bouzigues? You get that it is a small village, but is it small as in 500 inhabitants or as in 5,000 inhabitants?
  • Several listings lack external links. This might be due to these attractions lacking their own websites, which is ok, but if they do have websites it is a good idea to add them as this makes it much easier to keep the article up to date.
  • As the restaurants are not organized by price range it is a good idea to be explicit about the approximate price range of each individual restaurant. Does the list include budget, mid-range, splurge and vegetarian options?
  • The drink section is explicit that there is only one bar in the village, but are there any coffee-houses or cafés which could also be mentioned?
I hope that this feedback is helpful. Thanks for a great article! Best, MartinJacobson (talk) 08:03, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's really helpful stuff! Thanks for taking the trouble to read the article and feed back your ideas. I can tackle all of this. The answer to "are there any x's?" is mostly no, but I'll check. One thing that can be mentioned is the bar also serves coffee. The history and context stuff seems pretty obvious now you mention it... --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 08:20, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
MartinJacobson: don't mind me editing your comment; I just want to strike through stuff as I complete them. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 09:18, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Is this article now ready to be nominated for star status? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 23:51, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for showing an interest. Items not struckthrough are still outstanding. The restaurant categorisation by budget is needed for star status, while the other stuff can be added later.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 15:54, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've just looked at the eat section and it's not long at all; there are not enough restaurants listed to need categorization by budget, but maybe I'm missing something about requirements for star status. I thought it was only when the list was longer than about 9 choices that it became better to divide it up. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:16, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, the WV:small city article template would seem to support you on that.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 17:41, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
When there's a lot of listings, it's better to divide by price, but I think in this case you're okay. If a few more listings were added, then we would need to consider.
But on the larger scheme of things, is this ready for a star nomination now? I'm very willing to post it if you think it's now ready. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:35, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You've done a great job improving the article TT! I agree that we don't have to subdivide the listings by price range, but I still believe that it would be a good idea to provide price information (i.e. writing the average prices/price range in the "price" field of every eat listing), and make sure that the list of eateries is varied, (i.e. that it contains both budget, mid-range and splurge options). Aside from that, I would say that it is ready to be nominated! MartinJacobson (talk) 20:51, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead, SelfieCity. Though I unfortunately can't promise to edit promptly in response to feedback. My little edit time is taken up by admin stuff, York and... erm vampires.
Martin, there is as much variety in the article as is present in the town. I agree that price information would be useful. And thanks again for your awesome feedback!--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 20:58, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────I'll get to it. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:00, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see! Then the issue of variety is already as satisfied as it can be. Good luck fighting those commie vampires! MartinJacobson (talk) 22:44, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────@MartinJacobson: Do you want to support on WV:Star nominations? Every vote will help. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 22:55, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Finally priced up the restaurants. Could possibly add two or three more, based on Tripadvisor / Petit Futé reviews. Would be nice to reignite starnom in time for featuring next month.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 01:25, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 23:30, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If that means it's all done, then I'll get to nominating it as soon as I can. Hopefully we can get enough support. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:33, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Star nomination[edit]

There has been discussion over this one for some time and we're finally getting to the point where it can be nominated for star status. So what do we all think? I think the position on Talk:Bouzigues so far is positive overall. If those who supported there could just come over here and vote support too, that would be great, but don't worry about long explanations or anything like that, since your time is limited. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:02, 11 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think it could still be better, so whether it's good enough to get star status I'm not totally sure. Erring on the side of not yet. I would say it is almost certainly the best visitor guide to Bouzigues in English out there, as immodest as that sounds. If there are improvements people suggest, I won't have time to implement them immediately.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 18:18, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the thoughts. Any things that you think would help it get to star status? I'll add them myself, if you want. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 19:18, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The stuff that's in the talk page and not yet crossed off, basically. Not a lot. You are more than welcome to go over the article, and make those additions and any other improvements you can think of. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 20:23, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Boat hire[edit]

I found a Facebook page for the boat hire company, and sent a message on Tuesday asking for some information regarding prices, since there is nothing I can find on their rather old-fashioned website. On FB, my message was marked as read almost immediately, but since then there has been no sign of a reply forthcoming. So it doesn't look like the company will be offering their co-operation, as is their right, but this is unfortunate for two reasons. Firstly, we have no prices to add to the listing (currently commented out in the 'Do' section) in order to aid the traveller. Secondly, there is no confirmation that the company even still operates as a boat hire service; the most recent 'evidence' of this I can find is a five-star Google rating, with no written review, from 10 months ago.

So my question: do we add an incomplete listing based on the information we have, and hope that it is still valid, or do we think that such a thing is detrimental to the article? Pinging @SelfieCity, MartinJacobson: and @Ground Zero:, who have been kind enough to offer their advice for this article before.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 21:48, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is the listing very important to the article, do you think? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 22:28, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's the only boat hire service in a coastal town, so fairly important if a traveller wants to get out on the water but doesn't have her own vessel. ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 15:31, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 16:35, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is probably worth keeping in, but with cautionary language. "... may offer boat hire service -- contact them to confirm...." I don't usually like uncertainty like this, but here it may be the best approach. Ground Zero (talk) 17:00, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Ground Zero's comment above. If they have closed, their facebook page and website may eventually shut down as well, thereby giving us sufficient evidence to remove the listing. In the mean time I say leave it in. If they use a very old-fashioned website they might also prefer more old-fashioned ways of communicating, so it probably wouldn't hurt to resend your message per e-mail. MartinJacobson (talk) 17:30, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If I could find an email address, I'd have done just that☺. Thanks for the answers, mes potes, I guess we can unhide it.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 18:37, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The listing links to another website with this contact form, which might be worth a shot! MartinJacobson (talk) 14:26, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Martin, I think you're confusing two different listings. The Bleu Marin, which offers boat trips, is not the same as the Sinaué boat hire (listing currently hidden and only visible in visual edit mode). Correct me if I've misunderstood.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 16:34, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's right, my mistake! MartinJacobson (talk) 16:40, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Second star nomination[edit]

I believe this is the second time this has been nominated for star status. Now, though, according to ThunderingTyphoons!, the work is done and the article can be turned into a star article, and he hopes this can be done in time for the article's upcoming period on the Main page. More commentary, including the previous failed star nomination for the article, can be found at Talk:Bouzigues. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 03:41, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work lately! --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 22:25, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Well, the article has many details, I think it is definitely ready, except that the sleep section is a bit empty if i would say.But other than that, it's ready to go. Arep Ticous 02:12, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Arepticous: As I understand, Bouzigues is a small place, so there are probably not many options. In this case, three options are probably enough. If people can't find a place to stay they can go to the "go next" section to find a hotel in a nearby community. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 12:36, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's nowhere else apart from the self-catering options, which are mentioned but not listed. Per, Wikivoyage:Listings#Rental listings, it's a lot of hassle just to get one cottage listed, and once you do, there are numerous other options which could also be added, potentially leading to touting. I decided not to bother, but wouldn't discourage someone else from having a go.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 12:49, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I stated in my reply, I think the current content is appropriate. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:11, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Soooo...Is this consensus? --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 21:23, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that AndreCarrotflower said we needed at least five supports (it may have been six) for a star nomination. Therefore, this one, unfortunately, doesn't yet have enough support. We can always gather support, however, by informing people of the discussion. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:25, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As my nomination indicates a support, we're close. We need one or two or more supports. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:25, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's no magic number. In my opinion, perhaps a notice could be put in the pub to attract the attention of anyone who might not be aware of this nomination, but if no one else chimes in, I don't see the point of holding up this worthy nominee, which has my full support, any longer. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 21:29, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Everyone who has taken part in this nomination, and the previous one (that was slushed in February) has now indicated their support. There's nothing else that needs fixing, improving or updating - and that's according to you guys as much as me. I am appreciative of everyone who has helped and lent their opinion to this nom, but it's time to get it over and done with now.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 21:35, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, let's go ahead. Result: consensus to upgrade to star status. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 21:38, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
