Merge and redirect all subregion articles[edit]

Every article listed in Central Greece#Regions sucks, and this article about a cradle of one of the world's great civilizations is embarrassingly awful, so why don't we merge and redirect all useful content from all the subregion articles? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:05, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PetScan indicates there are 30 articles categorized underneath Central Greece, but if we get rid of 7, we have 23. I guess it wouldn't overload this article, but we could also explore the possibility of merging some of the regions together. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:22, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Blue links under each sub-region:

  • Evvia — 4, but the sub-region has a lot of Get in info
  • Attica — 9
  • Boeotia — 2, but there are descriptions of the cities without articles.
  • Phthiotis — that doesn't look like a real word. 2 blue links, again with descriptions of others
  • Phocis — 3
  • Evrytania — 0, but with some text in Do and Eat
  • Aetolia-Acarnania — 1

Would it make sense to leave Evvia and Attica as sub-regions, and combine the rest? Finding a name may be a challenge, though -- West Central Greece? The Greek administrative region of w:Central Greece (region) does not include Attica or Aetolia-Acarnania, but I don't think we have to worry that definition, which was created in 1987. That looks good to me. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:00, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that could be a reasonable thing to do. But the Attica article is embarrassing and needs to be fleshed out more. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:20, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've implemented the proposal, but I have no idea how to alter the map. I have redirected the regional articles and commented out the text for future use if someone expands our coverage of the region. Ground Zero (talk) 16:17, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have improved the map, but for some reason it does not colour in Phocis prefecture. Any ideas? Ground Zero (talk) 13:28, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes Done – the reason it didn't show up was because the OSM relation used Q19890323, not Q26915. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 13:35, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, muchly. Ground Zero (talk) 13:40, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
