Talk:Louisiana
Add topicFrench
[edit]Is it appropriate to say that French is still spoken in South Louisiana?
- Parts of South Lousisiana, yes, especially to the South West-- though how close Louisiana Cajun dialect is to what a Parisian considers proper French is another matter. -- (WT-en) Infrogmation 13:27, 17 Oct 2005 (EDT)
Regions
[edit]How many regions are there in Louisiana? I can see at least two referred to in the existing article, namely.
So I am adding these as regions. Are there any more or different ones? -- (WT-en) Huttite 17:52, 25 Dec 2005 (EST)
Why do we need these? None of the cities have isIn for these regions, only for Louisiana. There are no region-specific pages. Should there be? As an outsider, the only region in Louisiana I've heard of would be "the bsyous". I'm inclined to delete regions entirely. Other opinions? (WT-en) Pashley 20:42, 1 May 2006 (EDT)
- There are hundreds of towns and cities in Louisiana -- far too many to link to from this page. One way we can do regions is to organize towns and cities by "parish" (Louisiana's equivalent of a county) and then organize the parishes into thematic clusters (greater New Orleans, "Cajun Country" or "Acadiana", etc.). --(WT-en) Evan 21:15, 1 May 2006 (EDT)
- I agree we need more regions and a plan. We can add/change isin's later. My suggestion is to use the state's tourism agency's five regions from this map(double click "Search Regions") and then further divide by parishes. Not sure the names are quite what we want in all cases. Suggestions. (WT-en) OldPine 15:47, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
- Hearing none I've installed some regions as used at Wikipedia. Will let this set here for comment before building it out. (WT-en) OldPine 15:04, 2 October 2007 (EDT)
"South"
[edit]I've moved the "South (Louisiana)" article to Acadiana as being more appropriate and how the region is labeled on the map. Note we have a separate article on the Florida Parishes, so no need to treat them in that article too. (WT-en) Infrogmation 20:31, 28 August 2011 (EDT)
City list should not be a table
[edit]An anonymous user is trying to change the city list in this article to the following table below. They probably do not realize this is non-standard, therefore I am creating this section on discussion page for them to discuss their viewpoint should they wish. Region names
[edit]Anyone mind if I move North (Louisiana) and Central (Louisiana) to North Louisiana and Central Louisiana, respectively? The parentheses seem unnecessary in this case. Eco84 (talk) 18:54, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Well, unless someone wants to do a rewrite of the two region articles under the new names in order to get rid of the WT link. Eco84 (talk) 18:56, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Please go ahead with the rename - the names you've proposed better match standard practice. -- Ryan • (talk) • 19:49, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Alternative banner for this article?
[edit]I created a new alternative banner for this article (I initially created it first and foremost so that it would be used at the top of the parallel article in the Hebrew edition of Wikivoyage, yet I later decided to also suggest that the English Wikivoyage community would consider using it here as well). So, which banner do you prefer having at the top of this article? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 05:21, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- As interesting an ecosystem as the bayous are, I've gotta go with the jazz festival. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:25, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Please! Replacing the trumpet is really poor judgement.
- There might be an alternative destination article for the bayous though. --Andrewssi2 (talk) 13:03, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

- Did not we have a kind of policy about not focussing on people or something? Anyway, neutral. Syced (talk) 09:15, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
