@SHB2000: Hi :) Please how do I move this page to my sandbox until I finish editing it?Edriiic (talk) 07:42, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SHB2000: kindly ignore my request for the article to be moved to my sandbox. I am done with it now, moving it to my sandbox will no longer be necessary.Edriiic (talk) 18:30, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Edriiic: Hey Edriiic, sorry that I missed this thread. I was away, so I missed this. Anyway, to move pages, just on the top right corner of your screen, there's a section that will say More. Just click that, and click the Move button. From there, just follow the instructions from there. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 02:29, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SHB2000: I tried, but I didn't see the sandbox option.Edriiic (talk) 18:30, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Glug, glug.[edit]

Should I bring a snorkel? All the eat, drink, and sleep listings appear to be stacked atop each other in the middle of the lake. Nelson Ricardo (talk) 07:18, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Nelson Ricardo 2500:, all underwater? ;) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 08:43, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio?[edit]

Note the section that ends with the obscure citation, "(Omin, 1983)". First, we don't use that citation format on Wikivoyage, but second, it's entirely obscure what it refers to. Any content that is obtained from any source needs to be clearly identified in edit summaries or on this talk page. Maybe "The lake contains 258 types of phytoplankton in 107 genera" is a specific enough statement of fact not to require quotation marks, but please state where the information comes from. This has too much encyclopedic content, though:

"Oguta Lake has a mean depth of 5.5 m and a maximum depth of 8 m, with a water surface area that varies from 180 ha during the dry season to 300 ha during the rainy season. The water level fluctuates over a scope of 2.7m between these two seasons."

I'll summarize that as "The water level in Oguta Lake can be about 3 metres higher in the rainy season than it is in the dry season." Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:37, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, as Nelson Ricardo 2500 mentioned, all the coordinates are smack bang in the middle of the lake. The second thing, is the town called Oguta Lake, or is it Oguta? Pinging @Timmylegend: since they know a lot more, (and also found out the Urhobo issue as well). If this is a lake, I don't think it passes wiaa, but if it is about the town, then this should be renamed to Oguta. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 08:42, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ikan Kekek: There's no copyvio per this. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 08:51, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That won't catch copying from printed sources that are not online. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:18, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yes. I forgot about that. I keep thinking that most sources are online these days, but it's not always the case. (even in Australia, there's a lot of tourist brochures that aren't available online. Dunno about the rest of the world though) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 10:23, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SHB2000: There's a town named Oguta with a lake around/near the town. There are lots of resorts around the lake and it's also a popular tourist destination. There's a Wikipedia article on the town and on the lake. The article could be on the town Oguta instead of the lake or different articles for the town and the lake, just my thoughts here.Timmylegend (talk) 18:29, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It sounds like it would be best to move the town related information on this page to Oguta in that case. Per wiaa the lake itself does not merit its own article, although if the area surrounding it is a tourist destination, we can create a park or rural area article for Oguta Lake. However, before we do that, we need to have the correct coordinates for the existing businesses. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 19:23, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wikivoyage:Bodies of water is complicated. Bodies of water can get their own article in certain circumstances, and certainly the land around them can. So my question would be, would it be of more use to travellers to have the article be about the town or the area around the lake, including the town? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:14, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I believe an article about the town would be better. The get in and get around section have a degree of ambiguity and might not help the travellers or tourists to get to the lake. The article on the town could then showcase the lake in the See and Do section. My thoughts. Timmylegend (talk) 13:53, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If all of us agree this should be about the town, we may as well move it. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 13:56, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

These nominations seem reasonable to me. Edriiic, if you indeed took any or all of these photos, please reply in the deletion request thread on Commons. Otherwise, we will have to remove these images, which will in any case be deleted from Commons, as things stand. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:57, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It'll automatically be removed by CommonsDelinker, but... I'm surprised that the reason given was "Small images without metadata", by a commons admin. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:32, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Look at how tiny some of the other images are, and I think you'll understand. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:45, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at c:User talk:Edriiic though. I did tag some of their images as copyvio a month ago. I presume that's why Yann found it a little bit suspicious. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:58, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
SHB2000 Ikan Kekek I am sorry guys for the stress, I know better now at referencing images gotten from the web or Instagram. Edriiic (talk) 06:08, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Are these images with free licenses? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:36, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think so. I got it from the Nigeria National Park official Instagram account. But I didn't know how to give credit to those kind of source. Edriiic (talk) 07:18, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you know for sure that official Nigeria National Park photos are public domain or Creative Commons Copyleft, definitely say so on the deletion nomination thread on Commons. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:24, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but I made the mistake of uploading it as my own work. Will that still work? Edriiic (talk) 07:30, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, it will be deleted from Commons if you continue to misrepresent it as your own work, but you need to discuss it here. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:51, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
