Time formats

[edit]

May I recommend using the same time formats for all the Singapore articles?

Our main Singapore city state article has Star status and uses the universally understood, unambiguous and usually shorter 24 hour time format (as does Singapore/East Coast and Singapore/Little India). --118.93nzp (talk) 02:00, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

A selection of Page Banner

[edit]
Banner 1
Banner 2 (current)
Banner 3

North and west Singapore for a tourist equals to one of the zoos. So maybe banner 2 or 3 suits a bit better?--Renek78 (talk) 12:08, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I prefer banner 3, but it's been a while since I've spent some time in the north and west (12 years now). Spent more time in the CBD in 2018, but with that said, I liked the botanic gardens and it was one of my highlights in the area (and it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site too). Would defer to @The dog2: as to which one is more representative. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:16, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Either 2 or 3, but not 1. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:57, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
The Jurong Bird Park is going to close this year, so I pick 2. The dog2 (talk) 15:16, 10 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
So if it's closing, then I too prefer 2. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:45, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Banner 4 of Singapore Botanic Gardens
@Ikan Kekek, Renek78, The dog2: Added a banner of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, so it doesn't look too specific to the zoo. There seems to be a good range of the world heritage garden on Commons. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:24, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don't know if that will be the best representation of the region. The Botanic Gardens is great, but it's actually pretty close to Orchard Road, and in fact just down the street from the American embassy and the Australian High Commission. Perhaps a banner of the jungle or something would be better. Like from the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve for instance. Or perhaps mangroves from the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve could work for a banner. If it's close to Orchard, then... I'll look for some banners of the nature reserves. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:37, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Changed the banner from banner 1 to banner 2. --Renek78 (talk) 13:59, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tanjong Pagar shouldn't be here

[edit]

POIs Baba House, Tg Pagar station and Harbour Ville are not "north and west" by any stretch of the Singaporean imagination. Can we incorporate these into Chinatown, since they're just across the line? Jpatokal (talk) 10:49, 6 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

It is always hard to properly name district articles. The problem is that those entries geographically belong to this district. We would have to increase Chinatown and decrease this one in size to incorporate those 2 listings in the other article.--Renek78 (talk) 11:43, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's what I'm suggesting we do. Or maybe we need an entirely new article for Tg Pagar, Tiong Bahru and the somewhat awkward chunk of mainland currently in Singapore/Sentosa and Harbourfront. Not sure what to call this though, it'll be "Great Southern Waterfront" in a few years but nobody uses that name yet... Jpatokal (talk) 00:58, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
