Is Strasbourg really huge enough to need districts? It's kinda a slippery-slope to start out with every city having subpages (City/Districts) by default, when those are really meant for mega-cities like New York, Mexico City, and Tokyo... thoughts? (WT-en) Majnoona

Thanks for all you're corrections. My english is really bad and I'm waiting for the french version of Wikivoyage. I'm also learning the "how-to-do" and the (many) differences between Wikipedia and Wikivoyage. I think the today-lesson is : it is not necessary to be exhaustive on a subject (=WP) but to explain what could interest a traveller (=WT). However, as most of old european towns, Strasbourg (even if it's not that huge) has some really particular districts (medieval district, german district, european district) that are interessant to visit (and to describe). But before that, I'll explore WT to be more efficient. CU :o) --(WT-en) Pontauxchats 05:51, 24 Jan 2004 (EST)
Sounds good. Don't worry too much about your English-- it's a lot better than my French and wiki makes edits easy, so keep adding info! Maybe take a look at Geneva, San Francisco, and the Manual of Style for more tips. I look forward to seeing your contributions! (WT-en) Majnoona 12:32, 24 Jan 2004 (EST)

Getting to Strasbourg by car : from Lyon, it's closer to 6 hours, unless you like to break speed limits and never stop.

On where to eat, I recommand "Au Brasseur", Rue des Veaux. Good beer, good flammenkueche and not expensive at all.

Alternative banner for this article?

[edit]
Banner currently used in this article
Suggested new alternative banner

I created a new alternative banner for this article (I initially created it first and foremost so that it would be used at the top of the parallel article in the Hebrew edition of Wikivoyage, yet I later decided to also suggest that the English Wikivoyage community would consider using it here as well). So, which banner do you prefer having at the top of this article? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 05:14, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I don't have a strong feeling about this, but the new banner is clearer and better lit. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:32, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Having visited Strasbourg a few times, I have a much stronger connection to the current one. The bridges near the European parliament are not really interesting to me, even if the photo is of higher quality. --Andrewssi2 (talk) 13:08, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Clearly the newer is better, even though it is too panorama-distorted. The old picture is too dark, missing the colourfulness of the houses, which is typical of the region. The new pic shows the iconic asymmetrical cathedral. A picture not showing the ENA (dark building on the left) would probably feel less "distorted". Andrewssi2: The bridges of the new picture are in Petite France, the most touristic part of the city, actually very far from the European parliament. Syced (talk) 10:06, 1 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

2019

[edit]
197
198
199
201

Back in 2015 there was no consensus, but the existing banner is not great, and now we have more banners from Wiki Loves Monuments. I like #197, although it does not show the bridges, only their towers. How do you think? --Alexander (talk) 13:33, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

I haven't been to Strasbourg, but just in terms of my response to the images, 201 is my first choice, followed by 199, 198 and 197, and all of those are better than the existing one and the previously proposed alternative. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:42, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I also support 201, but only slightly over the current banner. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:43, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Replaced the current banner with 201. Let's have some change! --Alexander (talk) 16:53, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

The by train section

[edit]

This section needs some updating (I took a stab at it, but I am not even remotely from the area and frankly do not want to sift through the SNCF and DB websites for hours to look stuff up) first of all it treats the 2007 opening of the first section of LGV Est as recent news (we are now at the point where the second section opening rarely qualifies as news),then it lists a lot of over-exact travel times (which are likely based on a schedule now almost a decade old) and it just reads clunky overall. Hobbitschuster (talk) 16:14, 9 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

The travel times should be up to date - I went quickly through the timetables and looked for the fastest direct connection, after I noticed a few were very out of date. Feel free to round them to nearest 10/15 minutes if you prefer. I agree on the clunkiness. Quarkosaurus (talk) 09:59, 10 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can we get the tram lines to show up on the map? Hobbitschuster (talk) 19:02, 3 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
