If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

• NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
• be bold → plunge forward
• Village pump → travellers' pub
• External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
• sandbox → graffiti wall
• stub notes → Article status notes

Redirects in non-latin scripts

Hi, we had a pretty deep discussion last year regarding redirects in non-latin scripts, and we reached consensus against it.

So could you not create redirect such as אַשְׁקְלוֹן ?

Please let me know if you want me to find the reference to this consensus.

Redirects

Hello and welcome!

I think it's great that you've hit the ground running and are editing so actively! However, I question some of the redirects you're creating. Do you really think Corsicana, for example, is such a popular search term that it's likely for people to use Corsicana (United States)‎ and Corsicana (Texas) as search terms, especially considering that when you type in the search window, auto-completions are offered?

Popular targets, and I'd say also likely search terms. I don't think, for example, that New York (New York) is a likely search term, though I could see an argument for New York, NY redirecting to Manhattan (and also problems with such a redirect). Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:10, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

If I may, Corsicana (Texas) is a good redirect, because anyone who doesn't know whether or not Corsicana is a disambiguation page will likely try the former. The auto-complete on the search bar doesn't assist users writing wikicode. Powers ^(talk) 14:57, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

OK, I don't know what you mean about wikicode, so perhaps you can instruct us a bit. If I put [[Corsicana]] with the brackets into the "Search" window, I get search results, the first of which is in fact the Corsicana article. What is the situation you are referring to? I mean while writing an article, if someone wants to link to Corsicana, they're likely to use (Texas) because they don't know if Corsicana is the right page to link to. Powers ^(talk) 15:17, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
