Add topicHello, Gyeongbuker! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.
Also, please read Wikivoyage:Copyleft. You can't put someone else's copyright at the end of an article, and if the "Gyeongsan" article you just posted is copied and pasted from any website, it has to be deleted. I would also suggest for you to look at the North Gyeongsang article, and since we use Wikivoyage:Small city article templates for city articles, please have a look at that, too.
After you've read the links I've given you, please ask any questions you have by replying below, and an experienced Wikivoyager will answer them. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:05, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi again. Could you please stop creating new articles that deviate wildly in structure from Wikivoyage:Article skeleton templates and in style from Wikivoyage's usual prose style? Also, not every county gets its own article, as Wikivoyage uses regional divisions that are most useful to travelers and also are likely to have a sufficient number of city articles linked to them, not necessarily the regions used by governments. Please have a look at Wikivoyage:Geographical hierarchy, particularly the "Regions" section, and also Wikivoyage:Breadcrumb navigation, which relates to all destination articles. Hi, and yes, now I am learning the structure. Sorry for being here for the first time, making mistakes. I just wanted to contribute to share the unrevealed cities internationally, which I think not easy than I thought it would be. Gyeongbuker (talk) 02:27, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Gyeongbuker
- Sorry about that. There is a learning curve for new users here. I haven't forgotten that; there was when I was a new user, too. Feel free to lean on us for any advice. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:31, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
Thank you, I really appreciate it! Gyeongbuker (talk) 04:14, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Gyeongbuker
Ulleung County
[edit]Hi Gyeongbuker. I was looking at Ulleung County, and that article may need some more thought. We already have separate articles about Ulleungdo and Dokdo, and I'm not sure it makes sense to have an article about the county when there are also articles about the individual islands. —Granger (talk · contribs) 06:54, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Also, some general notes about counties: Wikivoyage doesn't usually have articles about counties. If there's a major town in the area, we'll usually create an article about the town and cover nearby attractions in that article. Only if that doesn't work (for instance, if there are no significant towns in the area) do we use a "rural area" article.
When creating "rural area" articles, it's also worth considering whether it makes sense to use counties or whether different divisions would be more useful for travellers. I'm not very familiar with Korea, so I don't know whether that's the case here.
By the way, thanks for adding content about these off-the-beaten-path destinations! It's much appreciated, and I hope you'll continue developing the articles you've created. —Granger (talk · contribs) 07:03, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi! I also think that they are a bit redundant so I just moved some useful info from Ulleung County to Ulleungdo, but not sure how to delete the ulleung county, I will try to figure it out! Additionally, I will apply "rural area" template for the towns that I made, if it is necessary. Thank you so much for your help.Gyeongbuker (talk) 05:41, 21 September 2020 (UTC)Gyeongbuker
Thank you
[edit]Gyeongbuker, thank you for your contributions to Korea articles, and welcome to Wikivoyage. We are fortunate to have a local expert contributing to these articles.
I have hidden ("commented out") some of the history sections you've added to articles. I'm not Korean and I don't know much about Korean history, so I guess that makes me like a lot of Wikivoyage readers. I've tried reading these history sections, and they really don't make sense to me. Maybe they would makes sense to someone who knows a lot about Korean history, but not to our typical readers. Could you try to re-write them for a non-Korean audience?
Also, please think about how much of the information belong in a travel guide. This isn't an encyclopedia. Details about municipal organization may not be interesting to travellers.
Finally, each article should have a "lead paragraph" that comes before the "Understand" section. It should explain why a traveller might want to go to the place.
Thank you again, Ground Zero (talk) 13:11, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi, thank you for letting me know. I will adjust them right away! Gyeongbuker (talk) 00:40, 23 September 2020 (UTC)Gyeongbuker
Please make sure that each article has a "lead paragraph" that comes before the "Understand" section. It should explain why a traveller might want to go to the place. Please do this before you create more articles for other counties. The articles that you have started do not meet Wikivoyage standards. Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 06:12, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi Gyeongbuker, from my understanding both of these names refer to the same city. Wikivoyage already had an article on Gimcheon and so the information in Kimcheon will need to be merged into Gimcheon. If you believe that Kimcheon is the more common spelling, you are welcome to request a move. Gizza (roam) 07:29, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
