Thanks for everyone helping to create this page! I'd like to add more content, but I don't really understand how to add events and the date formats, so apologies in advance for any mistakes I make Ajbrown141 (talk) 12:50, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to add as you can, someone will update if needed. If you want to add the event format see {{event}}, copy-paste the section under usage and just fill in the gaps. Usual method on wiki sites with syntax is just to copy a previous line and then edit. --Traveler100 (talk) 13:06, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see you found a flaw in the date method when goes over into the next year. Will have to see how to improve that. --Traveler100 (talk) 13:08, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Fixed the template. --Traveler100 (talk) 13:29, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

List of towns

[edit]

I am not sure about the recent list of towns added. Yes there are many towns that have Christmas markets, this article should highlight exceptional or famous ones. Maybe as an initial guideline only and entry if details of the market are entered and not just the town name. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:26, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to trim it down. I was actually also considering removing those that only last a single weekend, and only leaving in the ones that last the entire festive season. The dog2 (talk) 06:31, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Just the name of a town is worse than useless imho. If the market is famous for its long history or remarkable in some other way, we can say a few words about it. If not, why list it? Hobbitschuster (talk) 06:49, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
OK, feel free to trim it down. But I think at the very least, the big ones in the US like New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Philadelphia should be kept. For Canada, we should keep Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. And of course, London in the UK, and perhaps a few other British cities. I can try providing the links to some web-sites. None of those list Christmas markets on the linked pages. Could you please add some information there. Travellers cannot be expected to find this page just because they are visiting one of those cities around Christmas. About half have one-liners with external links, but those links should go to listings in the destination articles. –LPfi (talk) 10:03, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
A list of actual markets (with their names, specific locations and dates of seasonal operation) might have been worthwhile... but just a bare list of towns "Get Your Kicks on Route 66" style with no info as to why each city is listed? Utterly useless. K7L (talk) 02:50, 18 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good point. It's going to be a bit of a big undertaking but I'll try to add this in whenever I can find the time. All these cities indeed have Christmas markets, but yes, I agree that listing the actual Christmas market will be useful. The dog2 (talk) 04:47, 24 January 2017
I now removed Stockholm, which didn't mention any Christmas markets on the linked page, and Huseby, witch had an external link but no mention in linked Småland. I agree that any city on this list should have a one-liner about the markets. It should include a link to a specific relevant section or listing (this might be Understand, See or Events if the celebration is all over the city). Any external links should be in the destination articles. –LPfi (talk) 09:53, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Markets in Germany

[edit]

It's well past 2019... do we remove them? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:43, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Those are yearly events, we just have to update the dates... Hobbitschuster (talk) 16:29, 18 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mention Markets in Articles

[edit]

If you are familiar with any of the markets on the list, please add descriptions here and check the articles to see if they have listings in the "Do" section for their Christmas markets. If they don't, please add them. ChubbyWimbus (talk) 14:52, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
