I rolled back a large contribution to the Buy section as it was copied from here . Please see Project:Copyleft for more information. (WT-en) Maj 09:57, 23 August 2006 (EDT)
Automatic restaurant
[edit]I would not put Automatic Restaurant in the budget category. By the time 2 people have ordered juice, starters and entrees, the bill could be RO 12-13.
Price corrections
[edit]Sorry if I am doing this wrong, I don't really know what I'm doing, but I just wanted to say that the prices mentioned in this article for food and cases of water are not accurate. A meal for two people at an actual sit-down restaurant would cost about 4-6 rials. The only food cheaper than this is kisok snacks. Water is about 1.5 rials for a six pack of 1.5 liter bottles. Also, the hotel mentioned as being in the middle of the city is kind of strange since Muscat is a very decentralized city. Which "middle" is the author talking about? There are many commercial areas in different areas of the city. Hotels here are expensive, but a cheaper option for budget tourists is Naseem hotel in Muttrah tel 24712418. A single is 15 rials, a double 20 rials. This is a hotel I usually recommend to travelers because it is in a scenic, older part of Muscat and is much cheaper than other hotels, which range around 50-60 a night.
- Don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong. Our philosophy is, if you see something wrong, plunge forward and fix it yourself! You can click edit at the top of the page and change the prices yourself. If you need some help, please see Project:How to edit a page. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 11:55, 4 September 2008 (EDT)
Broken file links - Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
[edit]This is a problem for the article, and the Destination of the Month nomination for this article is also greatly hampered by the red-linking of the photos of the mosque. If anyone would like to upload some good photos to Commons, that would be a great help to everyone. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:45, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
"abbr" tags?
[edit]There is at least one tag <abbr title="Central Business District">CBD</abbr>; I have not checked for others. It does not work for me (recent Firefox on Linux); clicking on it has no effect.
Is that a Wikipedia-ism that does not belong here? Or a new feature I have not heard of? Pashley (talk) 21:42, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- It makes a mouseover, text that pops up when you hover the mouse over it. I used it extensively in building the maintenance panel. The only precedented use in the main namespace, though, is the little phone icons in the listings, which show "phone" when moused over. I rather think we should discuss before we start using it for purely text things like acronyms, where parenthesis would do just fine. Texugo (talk) 21:54, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- I've occasionally seen it used in a couple of other articles, can't remember where. I don't think it's particularly useful as it does not show up in the printed version. ϒpsilon (talk) 18:32, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Dynamic map
[edit]I believe this article would benefit from a larger, more rectangular dynamic map, as well as additional detailed maps (as weblinks), to be be placed in each subsection; specifically I propose to increase the map size to from 300x850 to 400x1050. This issue has been discussed previously here and mentioned here.
Any thoughts or objections? –StellarD (talk) 15:31, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- I think your work on the maps is great, and a major improvement. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:07, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Where is the CBD?
[edit]It is mentioned 4 times in the article. Yet I have no clue where it actually is. Renek78 (talk) 20:12, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
