The point of this article[edit]

What's the point of this article? If this is just the insanity of a single person and no-one can visit, isn't this article useless? Is there any good reason not to delete it? Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:49, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

tend to agree but did not want to jump on new contributor straight away. Give it a few days to see if anything useful is added then put it up for vote for deletion of no good arguments are put forward. --Traveler100 (talk) 09:06, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm OK with that. What are your thoughts on this, FiendYT? The standard we go by on this site is laid out at Wikivoyage:What is an article? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:03, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Crap! Sorry about this guys. I was in the middle of creating that article. I think I accidentally closed by browser and that I was done or something like that, so my deepest apologies. Is there any template that you can put where it says it's still in major construction like the one they have at Wikipedia?FiendYT (talk) 03:28, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, don't worry. Such a template is not necessary on this site, which for better and mostly probably for worse is much lower-traffic than Wikipedia. Just give us some idea why this article is travel-related. Can anyone visit this self-styled republic? If not, is there anything to view from afar? Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:59, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There is a mini embassy where you can retrieve visas for several dollars. You can buy souvenir coins at a gift shop there. I'll check on some of the sights. FiendYT (talk) 18:10, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Take your time. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:04, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Get in" needs more information[edit]

I assume that entry into the republic is only by foot, but how can travellers get to the border? Are there buses, or is a car necessary? Is the nearest rental car company in Reno? Is there plenty of parking? —Granger (talk · contribs) 21:29, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the "By car" section. After looking at that and Google Street View, I'm guessing there's plenty of parking and no bus service. —Granger (talk · contribs) 22:59, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Micronations article[edit]

We have separate travel topics for all kinds of stuff including campfires and Truck stops, so perhaps we could also start a travel topic for micronations. I mean several of these actually have their own destination articles like this one, Liberland, Sealand and Hutt River Principality (maybe there are even more of them). ϒpsilon (talk) 20:04, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How small is a micronation? Is San Marino a micronation? Monaco? Liechtenstein? Luxembourg? Singapore, perhaps? Do we have a sense of what the definition of the term is? Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:33, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, the defining feature of a micronation isn't so much its size (although most of them are much smaller than any of the examples you mentioned), but rather its frivolousness and lack of recognition from real countries. San Marino, Monaco, etc. are UN member states, so they're not micronations by any stretch of the imagination. Instead the article would be about these somewhat silly projects that basically no one thinks of as real countries, like Sealand and Liberland. I think an article about them could work, maybe including a list of micronations with basic information about how to get in or links to the relevant destination article when there is one. —Granger (talk · contribs) 00:49, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That's helpful. I think that definition will be uncontroversial. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:22, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
With the caveat that there should be a clear distinction between micronations on the one hand and, on the other hand, de facto independent nations like Abkhazia, Transnistria, and Somaliland that lack international recognition but do have functioning governments, etc. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 01:45, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:00, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
By micronations I meant what Granger said above; places that are attractions rather than real countries. ϒpsilon (talk) 09:01, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

pointless article[edit]

its not even a real contry 152.22.66.26 12:26, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to propose merging or deleting it? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:31, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think the article is alright. Certainly an unusual destination, and strictly speaking it doesn't meet the sleep test, but I think this is more useful and interesting for the traveller than trying to merge it into a Dayton (Nevada) article, and definitely better than merging into Western Nevada. I hope to visit Molossia someday and might have more informed thoughts after I do. —Granger (talk · contribs) 16:08, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
