it's OK for anyone to use this article as I am the author of it and I got the information from a public site. (Sarbast.T.Hameed (talk) 08:55, 13 March 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Even if it's from a public page, copying verbatim is a very bad idea. By the way, I noticed you uploading photo files on Wikivoyage. With few exceptions, Wikimedia Commons is the place to upload photos. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:48, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Ikan for your coming by ... so what should i do ? as I am from the Country and I already went there, I know that all the info are correct and thought that it is better to collect it from a public well-known page than writing them down what I know even it is the same info .. isn't this the same idea of Wikipedia getting the info from the Best Source? and for the Pictures, they are already from Wikimedia Commons but they need to be corp so I did and uploaded them again ... so can you guide me what to do better than this idea? I am already collecting a huge Pictures for the places I visited but some place I do not have till now but trying to go again and get them soon I hope... anyway sorry for bothering and thanks again for passing by and guide me. Sarbast.T.Hameed (talk) 16:46, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that something is published in the public domain does not mean you have the right to copy that information and use it somewhere else. I suggest writing something in your own words containing similar information. --Traveler100 (talk) 18:30, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I can only echo what Traveler100 said 100%.
Also, you're allowed to crop pictures on Commons and upload derivative pictures; just make sure to credit the author and link the original file. If you need advice on how to do that, go to the Village Pump on Commons. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:53, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks for the advice , my purpose was to get the most correct and 100% honest information from an official site to leat every one whom visit these sites get benefit from it and to stay safe , but just to be definite what is the difference if I read the info from the site and wrote down the entire text from copying and pasting it here ǃǃ?? it will just tack more time from me to complete the task ǃǃǃ and also are you telling me that all the information and contribution from this site and by most the users are copyrighted and they did not copy and paste it from external site ǃ I will definitely tack your valued advice in mind in the Future ...thanks (Sarbast.T.Hameed (talk) 06:15, 15 March 2018 (UTC))[reply]

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────The problem here is simple. There is a copyright on the original article and it being copied by anyone to here is a copyright violation. If the content on that website has a copyright license, any changes to the Wikivoyage article must obey the copyright license. Once information is licensed, it stands as a copyright no matter who it is that copies that information. I've removed the content in the listings that were copied, and I'll make a final check to make sure there are no violations anymore. Selfie City (talk) 00:19, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dear SelfieCity... Can you show me the place in the original article which is talking about the copyright? and if you could please explain about it as well, I will be grateful for you as in Iraq we are not dealing with copyright issue correctly and it is free to copy any information from any Web Site to any other one or use it in any other places..--Sarbast.T.Hameed (talk) 09:42, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There is no text saying it is Copyleft or not copyrighted so by default it is the material of the owner. Publishing something in a document to a web site allows other people to read material not reuse or republish it. Maybe something here but I cannot read the language. --Traveler100 (talk) 15:08, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The link here is a government document written in Arabic and kurdish which is talking about the Law and License of opening the tourism agency and offices in Kurdistan of Iraq and not talking at all about the copyrighted of this Public site which is already aiming to sharing information about tourism in Kurdistan, any way my idea was to shar the information here so that every body who intend to visit Iraqi kurdistan get benefit from it but if it is against the policy of the Wiki Voiag that is law that we need to keep it working.. thanks to all and I will try to fix this issue in the future..--Sarbast.T.Hameed (talk) 22:06, 13 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sarbast.T.Hameed, at the bottom of the page it says, "General Board of Tourism 2015 ©." To me, that's a copyright. Selfie City (talk) 21:44, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

VFD nomination[edit]

A useless article that's content is mainly from User:Libertarianmoderate (banned editor - before he was banned) and this article provides no useful content for travellers. (apart from the don't go to Iraq advice) SHB2000 (talk) 01:11, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, per nomination. Ground Zero (talk) 02:05, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment If you look at the article history, it was mainly copyvio by one User:Sarbast.T.Hameed, who has never been blocked. I could support deleting the article at this late date on the basis that an article that started as copyvio should have been deleted in the first place. Otherwise, it should be turned into a redirect. But none of this has much of anything to do with the user of whom you speak unless Sarbast is the same user (as might be the case, but I rather doubt it based on the language on their talk page). Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:54, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Should mention that it's mainly his work after User:Selfie City cleaned it up. SHB2000 (talk) 03:09, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Outcome – Withdrawn after User:Ground Zero's substantial contributions. SHB2000 (talk) 13:01, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
